As Dr Ali and Jiwan Brar say in their introduction 'For those in the know, yoga is not simply a set of poses but a whole way of life.' And this book bears that out by not only giving instructions into how to do the poses (with both the Western and Sanskrit names which is good) but also shows how a healthy diet, healing massage, relaxation, meditation, breath control, cleansing activities can become part of a healthy lifestyle. The authors obviously have a profound knowledge of the yogic tradition and also sound medical knowledge of various conditions and how yoga can help. The cleansing activities (kriyas) featured are trakak (candle gazing), jala neti (nasal douche) and kapalabhati (cleansing breath). The common ailments and conditions featured include arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, headaches and migraines to name a few.
I can highly recommend the programme. I personally went to see Dr Ali for just one session many years ago for IBS and as a result of following his advice of taking up yoga and having neck massages I have completely cured myself of the condition.
This book and Dr Ali's Ultimate Back Book are a must for every household to maintain good health in a natural way.
Highly recommended as a taster of the wonderful therapy that is yoga.
