Product Description

In this text, Arthur Robbins explores the interaction between patient and therapist in depth, examining the concept of therapeutic presence, and the therapists ability to maintain it. Robbin's theory integrates a creative framework that synthesizes traditional and non-traditional approaches to treatment, and should be of interest to all mental health professionals.

I used this for an essay entitled "The therapeutic space". It was very useful. I'm grateful for the introduction by Robbins. I recommend it for all those who work with groups and individuals in the caring professions: healers, psychologists and educators.

5.0 out of 5 stars variety of art therapy themes by established art therapists, 14 Jun 2005
By A. Wayong "wayong2" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Therapeutic Presence: Bridging Expression and Form (Paperback)
Amazon.com's review is not an entirely accurate description of the book. This textbook is a collection of methods and technique utilized in creative arts therapy, written by various authors. This collection includes accounts of traditional fine arts oriented therapy, Jungian analysis, music therapy and puppet therapy. Even though some of the material is out of date (written in 1996), this is a fine textbook that would benefit students in clinical training programs, art therapists and other psychotherapists. Also, this is one of the few published books that has information on a more obscure type of art therapy, which is puppet therapy. Highly recommended.
