Product Description

CD Description

If Not Then When is the debut album from King's Daughters and Sons, an alternative supergroup made up of members from various bands including Rachel’s, Shipping News, The For Carnation and Shannon Wright. The album was three years in the making, recorded by Kevin Ratterman (California Guitar Trio, My Morning Jacket, Wax Fang) and mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac). King’s Daughters & Sons are informed by, though not beholden to, the history of its respective members: haunting, spare and at times explosively unsettling, they have been described as part William Faulkner, part Led Zeppelin.

Stunning Slow Grower 22 Jan 2012
Format:Audio CD
Probably not an album to judge on first listening but it winds its way into your head. Influences of other bands can be heard throughout but they are used cleverly and it doesn't reduce the over all effect of the album. Can't wait to hear more of this bands material, they could go on to be something very special indeed!

great debut 20 Dec 2011

What a great debut album by this lot from Kentucky...not sure who out of Michael Heineman or Joe Manning fronts this band but he does sound a lot like Bill Callahan from Smog but still a great cd. Fav tracks Sleeping Colony, Volunteer & Lorelei

Beautiful and interesting 7 May 2012

I got interested in this album after reading a positive review of it in either Mojo or Uncut. Like most interesting music, it is hard to classify, but I would say it is an original hybrid of rock, folk, americana and even a little prog. The songs take their time to build, with esp. beautiful keyboard work and drumming. Should appeal to fans of Midlake, Low, Fleet Foxes and other thoughtful bands. Very high musical quality. I can't stop listening to it.
