Josh Homme (lead vocal, guitar) John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards, vocal) Dave Grohl (drums, vocal) Alain Johannes (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocal) Scumbag Blues -- Dead End Friends -- Gunman -- Mind Eraser No Chaser -- Caligulove -- Spinning In Daffodils -- New Fang -- Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I -- Warsaw recorded September 30,2009 at Austin City Limits, Texas The Holy Trinity of gutsy rock is inviting to dip in: Homme, Grohl and Jones do not present to the discipleship any new genre fiats nevertheless Them Crooked Vultures are playing unmistakable. This was foreseeable. As well the initiator Dave Grohl as Josh Homme do have outstanding potential on each instrument - not to mention their aptitudes as songwriters and vocalists. If then a Led Zeppelin equipped with the same talents joins - then the success is merely a matter of form. To no purpose may be looked for radio hits as it is perceptible and audible that the most important thing for the three heavyweight is to have fun while making music. Either garage-, power-, stoner- or hardrock: the style and speed are ever-changing and the result is a musical Tour de Force.

How can you go wrong with all this talent. Bass player from Led Zeppelin (John Paul Jones), drummer from Nirvana (Dave Grohl) and front-man vocalist/guitar player from Queens of the Stone Age (Josh Homme). A couple of days after I ordered 2 of these DVDs from Amazon.co.uk, I noticed that the description said that the DVD was Region 2 and might not play on my Canadian DVD player (region 1). I started thinking that I had made a big mistake and should have sourced the DVD locally (even though I had no luck finding it) When I received the DVDs I tried them first in my Sony Playstation and no problem, then I tried them in my Sony Blu ray player and no problem there either. I mixed myself a strong drink and cranked up the volume and thoroughly enjoyed the awesome tunes. I HIGHLY recommend this DVD if you are a fan of any one of the 3 musicians.

When I first started listening to this DVD I though that they were under rehearsed with too many pregnant pauses and a general feeling of lack of practise. Add to that the DVD's absence of embellishments and it would be easy to dismiss this DVD. Unfortunately before you go away in the knowledge that you have just saved yourself money by not purchasing this DVD there is a slight problem; because underneath these issues there is an underlining pure genius which makes this music DVD one of the best music DVD's I have ever listened to. So sell your wife and children to the slavers, buy this DVD; invest in an Arcam AV amp & disk spinner; a decent set of speakers, then settle down with a good bottle of red wine and enjoy...
