4.0 out of 5 stars Game show heaven 8 Nov 2003
Format:Paperback
A fun read from the wonderful Nora Roberts. This is an earlier novel, lacking in the depth of story and character that her most recent work contains, but is fun to read. This story centres around Johanna Patterson, the producer of a day time game show and Sam Weaver, the actor invited to make a guest appearance on the show. He's rich, charming and attractive - but Johanna is determined to guard her head... and her heart. A fun, light hearted and enjoyable read. It is not one of Nora's better stories, as it is a reissue of an earlier story, but if you like Nora's writing, don't be put off. It may not have the detail or emotional intensity of later writing, but is sweet, amusing and certainly a pleasant way to pass a few hours.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great early Nora Roberts novel 23 Feb 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A pleasant, enjoyable read that loses gas toward the end.
Johanna Patterson is the producer of a game show and Sam Weaver is the handsome actor who guest stars on it. He is immediately attracted to her, but she does not want to get involved with someone of his type. Since he is gorgeous, single, and rich, this does strain the imagination a bit, but the behind-the-scenes action of the game show industry was interesting.
Excerpt from the back of the book:
"Men wanted to be Sam Weaver and women just wanted him-every woman but Johanna Patterson, that is. Tall, dark, and impossibly handsome, it was no wonder his fame was rivaled only by his reputation! But surely a woman who'd learned her lessons the hard way could resist the most irresistable man alive...couldn't she?"

Not too bad but pretty predicable. A bit slow to get into it. Just read Chasing Fire and it was awesome.
4.0 out of 5 stars Can common ground be found between two very different, determined people? 7 May 2013
By R. Utt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Because of her fathers' casualness towards marriages and her mothers' 'disappearance' after the divorce, JoAnna wants no part of relationships with men. She feels she will be the same as her parents. Sam is intrigued by Joanna and goes out of his way to try to establish a relationship with her. She likes challenges and rarely turns one down, if it looks like it will benefit her, but she does not want to risk starting a relationship. If only Sam weren't so persistent. As this develops into a relationship, Joanna finds that she just might like Sam after all. A well written story and enjoyable to read.
