Keep it in the family. 14 July 2014
By Nameless Cynic - Published on
Format: Paperback
Down here in Arkansas, we got our ways, and we ain't givin' 'em up fer no two-bit, no-account city boy who thinks he's better than us. That's why I was so glad to see that Dr Shedd has done embraced our way of life so well.

What a GREAT book 17 Feb. 2011

The title really says it all. A good Catholic book. This book reminds of going to see Father Lonahan at church in my childhood. He loved me. He was a great father.

A very touching read. 5 Mar. 2014
By Neil Lindquist - Published on
Format: Hardcover
It's amazing how accurate the author is at capturing a piece of my christian childhood. I found the writing to be very touching and a tender read that any child could enjoy. I hope we get a sequel soon about loving uncles for the boys that didn't get the chance at having a loving father.
A DELIGHT YO READ!!! Confessions of a loving Dad... 5 Mar. 2015
By qwerty - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
So many people come from dysfunctional homes. Many homes lack a male role model all together. So, when males in such a family have his own family, he doesn't have a clue how to interact. To build a relationship with his own his children. How to LOVE them in a way THEY FEEL LOVED! MUCH more than SAYING "I love you." Children can hear that phrase till they are sick of it/ignore it!!!

Some Amazon reviewers talked about reading this book to the CHILDREN!!! HUGE MISTAKE!!!
********This book is for DADS to read!!!********

In a conversational narrative Charlie Shed gently describes what fatherly LOVE is. = A DELIGHT YO READ!!!
How important LOVE is.
And how to communicate that LOVE to each child. Lots of anecdotes to
illustrate each point.

A big part of it seems to be "lead by example." Teach your kids "love" by LOVING your wife. Let them see you hugging and kissing and giving each other special little looks. Gentle nudges. Tiny acts of kindness. Calling each other
"G rated" 'pet names.' Complementing each other about everyday things. =If the stew is good, SAY SO!!! =Love your wife first, but love each child just as much.
Children will "FEEL BETTER ABOUT ME" as they watch Mom and Dad hopelessly, permanently in love

There is so much in this little book. Entertaining enough to read from cover to cover. But go back and read a chapter a day. Highlight phrases. Make notes in the margins. Leave pointers on things YOU need to work on.

>>>Disclaimer:<<< I attend the "Charlie Shedd Institute" in 1965. Read "Letters to Karen" when it came out in 1965. (Read an excerpt in a Family Circle magazine in the lobby of my doctors’ office.) Whenever I learn couples are getting married I immediately give them "Letters to Karen" and "Letters to Phillip." Keep copies in the closet so they will be
handy. (These books sell out often...)

I have spent the last 39 years in my first/only loving marriage. We have raised 2 loving, responsible children to adulthood. I am told we will be a "Grandma and Grumps" in May!!! I love life because my Lord loves me. Because my wife loves me. Because she sees the Lord's love reflect off me, …warts and all! Because our children love us. And we love them…
=THANKS, Charlie!!!
