Amazon Verified Purchase
Reading Penny Goring's poetry and prose and prose/poetry, is so refreshing and startling an experience, that it makes me think writing is going to be ok in the 21st century. Hers is a voice so fresh and so honest that it is very difficult not to make comparisons with some of the 'greats', especially poets. But she is unique and so I will just urge you to read her words for yourself.

Goring is a visual artist and now she paints with words instead of paints. Her poems draw kaleidoscopic images in the reader's mind, many of which have stayed with me long after I finished reading.

'We know the right words - we know exactly what we are doing, and it works, every time' writes Goring in the title piece, The Zoom Zoom.

She knows the right words all right. All the right words. I just hope she saves a few for the rest of us poor writers, who follow behind, tugging at her coat tails, hoping some of her talent will rub off on us!

This book is like every weird thing that ever happened in the dark when you were a kid, mixed up in a fluid and transformed into words to die for.

I didn't even think for a second about giving it less than five stars.
