Book Description

6 July 2006
From Zawn Organ, Cornwall to Zoar in Shetland via Zion Place in Somerset and Zulu Farm, Oxfordshire, The Z-Z of Great Britain provides an essential profile on each and every zed locale in the land and, thoughtfully, instructions on how to get there. Visit, perhaps, the hamlet of Zabulon in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Meet Gareth, Val, one dog that's called Tim, another that isn't, and have a go on the sit-on lawnmower. Z-Z also includes detailed maps and a unique rating system to cut the hassle of planning your next zedventure. And, for when you're enjoying a pint at the end of the day in the The Half Moon, Zig Zag Hill's local, Z-Z features a dazzling introduction to the tempestuous and often distasteful history of the letter at the very extremity of the English language ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Surreal Wanderlust 2 Aug 2006
Format:Paperback
This book had me crying with laughter from the first page. The author manages to visit what are clearly extremely tedious places and find something interesting/ funny/ philosophical about all of them. Yet, there's something gripping and makes me want to buy a folding bicycle and jump on a train to see Zeal Monachorum for myself.

The funniest book I've read in years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer delight from start to finish 26 Dec 2007

Format:Paperback
I fully succumbed - without much of a struggle - at page 25 (the sheep captions) and intend to make my life's work accruing points from visiting all the Z named locations (handy score sheet included at the back) .
This little book has it all - mirth, maps, photos, existential thoughts and even English Civil War facts (fact). Genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars A splendid read 7 Dec 2007
Format:Paperback
Much much more than an extremely witty and amusing analysis of the British towns that flounder at the nether region of the alphabet, it provides a reflection from a unique perspective on many of the often neglected attributes of Britain.

A perfect Christmas gift for that "difficult" relative or friend.
