Format: Paperback
This book had me crying with laughter from the first page. The author manages to visit what are clearly extremely tedious places and find something interesting/ funny/ philosophical about all of them. Yet, there's something gripping and makes me want to buy a folding bicycle and jump on a train to see Zeal Monachorum for myself.

The funniest book I've read in years.

I fully succumbed - without much of a struggle - at page 25 (the sheep captions) and intend to make my life's work accruing points from visiting all the Z named locations (handy score sheet included at the back) .
This little book has it all - mirth, maps, photos, existential thoughts and even English Civil War facts (fact). Genius.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Mr Dubbing on 7 Dec. 2007
Format: Paperback
Much much more than an extremely witty and amusing analysis of the British towns that flounder at the nether region of the alphabet, it provides a reflection from a unique perspective on many of the often neglected attributes of Britain.

A perfect Christmas gift for that "difficult" relative or friend.
