It isn't Frezzato. 13 Sep 2007
By C. HOUGHTON - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Nothing against Ruotolo, but it was Frezzato's exquisite drawings that brought life to his stories. The Young Queen is definitely a Frezzato story, but Ruotolo's drawings lack Frezzato's passion and intimate love for his characters. All in all, the story is good and Ruotolo's drawings adequately tell the story.

not quite Frezzato's finest 18 Feb 2008
By R. Herbert - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
It seems the epic hasn't ended after all. In Keepers of the Maser 7 Frezzato covers events that take place just before the end of the "age of great splendor." While entertaining, this new chapter doesn't bring alot to the table. The biggest dissapointment is that Frezzato brought in a new artist. While Fabio Ruotolo's work is great, it lacks the amazingly beautiful color and detail that makes Frezzato's art so incredible. Another dissapointment is that the book cover doesn't merge with the previous six in a mural. Ultimately I think devoted readers of the series would agree that it's a "must have" despite it's few flaws.

Young Queen Review 15 Nov 2007
By Bonny C. Moore - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I was so excited when I found the Heavy Metal magazine with this in it. I thought the Maser series was complete after the Lost Village, but lo and behold, here it is.

I prefer the artwork done in the first few Masers, not that this new style isn't enjoyable - it's just not the same. It's almost too bright and cheerful, and there's not nearly the same detail. Plus I think Fango looks like a total nerd now... just throwing that out there. The thing that drew me to the series was the cover of the 2nd Moon... Ehra's clothing, and her face caught my eye and I was intrigued.

That being said, I am very pleased to know that Frezzatto is continuing (or, rather, beginning) the Maser series. It's great to see what things were like before the war. Can't wait for the next one!

Why is it always so quiet on the comics fora ? And Jack Kirby - which was better....his marvel Stan Lee heyday with the FF etc or his DC. 70s explosion with New Gods and Forever people and stuff...? 11 5 hours ago

OK well - Jonathan Ross has made a decent fist of entering the comic universe - which celebrity can't you wait for to enter the fray with their own graphic novel, and er, if you like, what would it be about ? 1 1 day ago
