Interested in gardens? The National Gardens Scheme Yellow Book is a MUST. The scheme encourages people to open their gardens for charity. Gardens are generally of high standard, so you are not viewing someone else's weeds, although this happens occasionaly! Gardens vary from tiny courtyards to vast, landscaped acres. Often groups of gardens open together. Detailed by county, reference is simple with numbered maps, brief descriptions, location, contacts, dates, and entry cost. Most are lovingly created, private gardens full of ideas and inspiration. Many offer refreshments. An outstanding and invaluable guide, available from February each year.

This book is the perfect companion for Spring and Summer garden visitors and enthusiests. Very well detailed
information, good travel directions and excellent selection of gardens. The book is split into counties, which
makes reference very simple, especially when touring around the countryside. It also lists facilities that are
avaliable at each venue,e.g.toilets,cafe,plant sales etc.At the beginning of each county is a calendar which
states which gardens are open on certain dates. A relly useful purchase.

The new format is more expensive to buy but contains the excellent information it always has done. There is nothing better on a summer weekend than visiting one of the superb gardens, created and maintained by their owners. I have been using it for more than 30 years and still find somewhere new and interesting to go every year.

The Yellow Book is the Plant Lovers Definitive Guide to wonderful venues all over the UK.
You have geographical and seasonal information all in one book with venue details and plant showings for
different months.
If your a gardener, botanist, photographer or just want to improve your gardening skills by discussing methods with the growers then this is your guide.
Its a wonderful entry for beginners and experts to engage in the very British occupation of admiration for others growing and design skills. You'll also find some of the gardens will surprisingly be just around the corner from your own home.
I thoroughly recommend this book for a greater practical understanding of gardening, people and nature.

Look at this and note in your diaries where the local gardens are that will be open and then it is not forgotten. Buy plants which then you can remember the day out where you bought them from

Very useful to have the Yellow Book 'with you' while traveling around. You never know when you may have a spare afternoon and want to know if there is a garden to visit in the area. All those on holiday with their kindle will find it a handy reference. Not only for the gardens, but probably the cheapest teas and most delicious home made cakes in England and Wales. Sorry about Scotland. They do have a Scottish Yellow Book.
