Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

Millennium, producer-writer Chris Carter's follow-up series to The X Files, never quite matched its elder sibling's audience appeal. In the US, it ran for three series but was cancelled before the millennium, cheating it of an apocalyptic finale. This is why semi-psychic FBI profiler Frank Black, played by star Lance Henriksen (owner of one of the most craggily expressive faces on television), pops up in the XF iles episode named "Millennium" to resolve some, if not all, of his show's dangling story.

Along with this X Files-crossover, this VHS also includes the final episodes of Millennium ("Via Dolorosa", "Goodbye to All That"),which may bewilder UK fans since the latter show's second and third seasons haven't aired here. The Millennium wind-up has Frank Black on the trail of a killer who has copied the methods of a just-executed madman, while sub-plots about the mysterious Millennium Group abound. The X-Files episode has Mulder and Scully hauling Black out of an asylum in the last days of 1999 to advise them when ex-FBI agents who have committed suicide are raised from the dead as zombie horsemen of the apocalypse. This is also the show in which Mulder and Scully finally kiss, albeit for the New Year bells. There's also plenty of strong-meat horror drama and meaningful glances between characters who know more than is good for them, but don't expect anything like narrative closure. The unresolved plot threads pile up on the floor like spilled spaghetti at the end. --Kim Newman

Product Description

Two episodes from Chris Carter's 'Millennium', followed by a special episode of 'The X Files', featuring 'Millennium's troubled hero, criminal psychologist Frank Black. In 'Via Dolorosa' and 'Goodbye To All That', the season finale to 'Millennium', Black traces a copycat serial killer to the nefarious Millennium Group. In The X Files episode 'Millennium', Black teams up with Mulder and Scully to investigate the mysterious exhumation of the bodies of four FBI agents. Once again, all the evidence indicates the Millennium Group are involved, in a plot which could spell the end of the world as we know it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a MUST HAVE!!! 30 Dec 2000
If you have not seen the Chris Carter series 'Millennium', you are missing out on a FANTASTIC and well crafted TV show. I'm a huge X-Files fan, but when Millennium was aired, I was hooked!

Do yourself a favour and watch Millennium however you can, 3 seasons in all. Then, you MUST get this tape, it contains the last two episodes of Millennium, and the cross-over episode into the X-Files that contains some closure for what was happening in Millennium.

If you love the horror genre, Millennium is second to none and is sadly underated. Hopes are that FOX will bring the series to DVD, as well as a possible return to the big screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Millenium hits it off for a sparkling year 18 July 2000
The x files mythology has evolved tremendously and the episode Millenium has contributed. This is a great episode from season 7 where we see Agents Mulder and Scully in pursuit of a millenium group who seem to be made up of FBI agents who commit suicide with terrible results. Can Mulder and Scully find answers and does their Millenium kiss leave mixed emotions ? An episode written by Chris Carter the shows creator. Surely not to be missed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Black Is Back, Like Never Before! 3 July 2000
Having been the biggest fan of Millennium possible during its three year run, even having the third and final season recorded and posted from the U.S. I am well pleased that the show has finally crossed over with the X-Files!

To a Millennium fan, this represents a milestone in the character of Frank Black; a criminal profiler lost in a world unlike that of his former glory days in the Bureau. A chance to see three heroes meet up and share a case together.

For the X-Files fanatic, this is a chance to see Mulder and Scully look up to someone, almost as a mentor as they realise that without their aid - Frank Black - the world may be about to experience its last Millennium.

The episode is very well shot, with the dark and dingy lighting and sets that we have come to expect from both of Chris Carter's' shows, and the addition of some Millennium theme music playing in certain scenes is very welcome. On the downside, the make-up could have been a little more detailed on the part of the zombies and it is a real disappointment to find that after three years of Millennium mysteries, and a genuinely unpredictable group - the entire threat to the world has ended up being playing out in ONE episode of the X-Files. You can't help but feel that the Millennium crossover should have had a more intelligent plot, demonstrating how intricate and thoughtful a show Millennium was. For example, one story featured Frank searching for a young man in Alaksa, who had ran away from his entire family to entr into a journey and discover his part in life. In finding him, Frank finds that he too has travelled a journey of his own and gained wisdom from the experience, that brings him closer to his wife. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is very strange to find this video actually being released....

On a final note, I would add that Frank Black could have been used a little bit more in an outdoor location. This would only have added to the excitement, but I do respect the ideas of the writers AND the fact that ultimately, this is still an episode of the X-Files.

The kiss is a welcome treat. After watching the X-Files from day one, it was amazing to finally see my heroes display their feelings for one another.

All in all, this should certainly be purchased.

Millennium fans may be a little disappointed, but this episode certainly makes for a cracking X-Files episode!

4.0 out of 5 stars The video Closure should have been 30 May 2000
By A Customer
I Think that The X-Files-Millenium was the video that Closure should have been. The Episode was well crafted, it had a fantastic plot and directing, with, as always, absolutely outstanding acting skills from Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. The Special guest star who plays Frank Black was equally as compelling as the two leads, but having never seen the show Millenium (also created by Chris Carter that was axed last year) didn't get the full story of the plot, but through great writing was easily informed about the last three years work the man has done. One small detail that eclipsed this episode when first broadcast in the States was 'the kiss', which resulted in nothing more than a New Years Eve kiss. Overall one of the best episodes of the seventh season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Great, Brilliant 4 July 2000

Excellent X-Files ep, a must have for any X-Phile, can't really comment on Millenium, not really a big fan but if you love The X-Files buy it anyway! DD + GA excellent! "The Kiss" moment shadows the rest of the vid, as soon as you see those two's lips meet you just know it was worth buying...it lasts 8 and a quarter seconds and your bound to watch it again and again! Buy the vid...now!

This video features one of the best episodes from the newest and possibly the best seasons of this hit sci-fi series. As an added bonus the last ever episode of Millennium (a x-files type spin off which features characters who cross over into the x-files episode. Overall top acting from GA and DD make the climatic kiss at the end a tremendous scene for fans who have seen the tension from the beginning. Overall this is a good example of the top quality of The x-files, buy it for fans like me because no,one will want to be without this video.

3.0 out of 5 stars One big event & not much else! 13 Jun 2000
By A Customer
I love the X-Files, Millenium is OK, but this video with a bit of both is just not very appealing! The episode of the The X-Files - "Millenium" is only a so-so one, yes Mulder and Scully kiss (and if I could award that stars then I would give it 5!)which is why all the fuss is made about this episode, but the rest of it is rather confusing (especially to non Millenium fans)and a big anti-climax to the Millenium series. What took years to build up in Millenium is dismissed as rather silly (zombies walking around while Mulder looks bemused) and purposeless (nothing happens at the stroke of midnight....well nothing paranormal anyway!). It just seems an odd video to release - if u are just an X-Files fan then paying £.... for one episode of the series is too much and if you are a Millenium fan aswell, then you are just likely to be dissapointed by the way it all ends. The episodes are OK, the kiss is brilliant (and not just a new years peck as suggested!), but as the end to the big build up of Millenium it is a significant disappointment.
