Product Description

From the Back Cover

A team of American archaeologists disappear while exploring the lost Mayan city of Xitaclan – and FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are flown to the Yucatan jungles to investigate.

A mysterious jade artifact and ominous local legends lead Mulder to believe there may be more to this case than simply the missing team of scientists. Also, unbeknown to the two FBI agents, Xitaclan is the scene of an impending three-way brush war between Central America drug lords, international smugglers who deal in looted Mayan artifacts, and a covert US military commando team that has been sent to investigate, and destroy, a strange electronic signal received from beneath the ruins. Mulder and Scully must unravel the secret of Xitaclan and discover what has become of the lost archaeology team before these opposing forces converge on the forgotten ruins and unleash a power that nothing on Earth can contain.

Ruins is the most ambitious and exciting 'X-Files' novel to date, as Mulder and Scully race to unearth an ancient mystery with eerie and prophetic consequences for today's world, and for the future. The truth is out there, but can they bring it home to a sceptical world?

5.0 out of 5 stars A thoroughly gripping read!! 22 April 2001
Format:Audio Cassette
Wow!! This is such an incredible read!! Not overly-disimilar from the TV series but enough to get you immersed in the depth of the characters once more!! Mulder and Scully venture into the Central American rain forests to try and fined a kidnapped archaeology team. However they have been kidnapped for some purpose involved in the fantastical and the paranormal....A thoroughly gripping read from beginning to end!!

4.0 out of 5 stars fascinating 27 Mar 2004
Format:Audio Cassette
This was the first Xfiles novel I had read and it was amazing. The detailed descirption of the Mayan history was fascinating, and Mulder and Scully's characters were really well developed. An intellectual and intense read. Definitely worth reading as a book in its own right, whether or not you are an X-phile. On a completely higher level from all the "based on episode novels" that I have read since.
