Product Description

Product Description

Two of the most popular horror properties of the last two decades collide in this harrowing 6-issue adventure of epic proportions. Co-writers Steve Niles (writer and co-creator of 30 Days of Night) and rockstar-turned-writer Adam Jones (the band Tool) team with the amazing, moody artistry of industry legend Tom Mandrake (THE SPECTRE, BATMAN) to unleash the ultimate comics culture crossover. When evidence of a possible cannibal killer in Wainright, Alaska, draws the attention of the FBI, Agents Mulder and Scully draw the less-than-glamorous assignment. But all is not as it seems once the agents are on the ground. Not only has the long seasonal darkness begun to fall, but theres something unnatural about a few of the locals. And what does a chilling, mysterious black ship have to do with the murders?

About the Author

Tom Mandrake is the popular artist of series including Firestorm, Grimjack, Martian Manhunter, New Mutants and The Spectre.

The Burial of Barrow; An Event Mulder Would've Seen Coming a Mile Away 1 Feb 2012
By TastyBabySyndrome - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Having the X-files meet 30 days of night is an excellent idea, and having someone with knowledge of both series working on them was an absolute treat. In many title crossovers, something is lost in the translation, be it pieces that make the character feel right or the way the story plot moves. Luckily, all the pieces in this work well.

I am not going to go over the what, exactly, because I do not want to give away anything that could be taken from the original 30 Days of Night. If you have not read it, stop here and go and pick it up. If you are a fan of the series, however, you can see the idea of the boat come into play and you can grab places and events and almost make them fit into the "what" transpiring in Barrow. I really liked that, and i liked the fact that my two favorite agents are the ones discovering everything.

The one thing I really feared was losing the Mulder and Scully feel as banter is exchanged, but that fear vanished early. I also feared losing that 30 Days feeling and the violence that you get with this kind of terrible, but it stayed as well and reared its head almost from the go. You have an artwork connection as well, and you can tell who is doing this title. Its really good stuff.

I dont think you have to be a fan of either to enjoy this, but it did make it nice. I miss X-files a lot and the old Topps reissues (by Wildstorm) didn't really give me my complete fix. I also miss the fact that 30 Days of Night stopped doing Barrow tales with meaning, and had drifted into a "the vampires attack again" kind of mindset. This allows you to revisit Barrow but not be bored by it, fleshing out some details.

It really is good stuff, taking being a fan out of the equation. Check out some of the samples, you might like what you see - just dont look too long or it might destroy some plot point.
x files meets vamps 13 Nov 2011

I loved the x-files in the day. I enjoy the 30 Days of Night series. You can, however, read this without knowing much of either. If you do like the x-files, this stays true to the characters and it was fun to read up on Mulder and Scully again. Artwork is pretty cool. Good story line, a lot like what you would expect in an X-files episode.
Perfect crossover! 17 Oct 2011
By Iris Tilos - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
It is inevitable and only natural that these two worlds should collide. For me it was the perfect crossover since The X-Files deal with stories(creatures) similar to 30 Days of Night. I enjoyed reading it and seeing my favorite FBI agents in action even if it's only on paper. The likeness of Mulder and Scully may be slightly less to my liking but the drawing of the creatures make up for it. I'm glad I bought this graphic novel.
