Product Description

A follow-up to the highly successful DISCWORLD UNSEEN UNIVERSITY QUIZBOOK, THE WYRDEST LINK will present itself as qualifying tests for various levels of mastery in Ankh-Morpork City's Guilds and other organisations - from the dignified Thieves' Guild to illicit outfits like the feared Breccia (the trolls' Mafia) or the wholly reprehensive Elucidated Brethren of the Ebon Night (see GUARDS! GUARDS!). As before, the straight Discworld general knowledge inquisition - presented with offbeat twists and linking themes - will be varied with trick questions, outrageous bogglers, and the occasional near-impossible poser to suit all levels of Discworld fans.

About the Author

David Langford is a writer, critic and SF fan who has won innumerable Hugo Awards for his fan writing and for his news magazine ANSIBLE, a legend in SF and fantasy circles. He has been involved with Terry Pratchett's Discworld since the very beginning, and has compiled two Discworld quizbooks, THE UNSEEN UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE and THE WYRDEST LINK.

From the librarian's scarily realistic Anne Robinson wink to the probing interrogation-type question style, I found this book a lot more taxing than David Langford's earlier offerring 'The Unseen University Challenge'. The more challenging questions make the book very hard to put down, and even harder to 'step away from'. This is definately a read for all those who consider themselves to be experts on Mr Pratchett's multiverse. It's a good idea to have a Discworld reference library at hand! When you've read it you will easily be able to list the different varieties of swamp dragon and quote from Humbert Wolfe's forgotten 1930 verse novel 'The Uncelestial City'. If you were not already one, this book will turn you into a true Discworld Swat!

This was chosen as a Christmas present for a Discworld fan, and seemed to go down very well with the recipient.

The Wyrdest Link--Test Your Pratchett Knowledge 17 Mar 2007
By M. Dupre - Published on Amazon.com

Those of you who are fans of Terry Pratchett will appreciate this trivia book. If you thought you knew something about the plots and puns of Discworld, and those of the Roundworld, as well, try your hand at these stumpers. It's a small book, divided into sections, with ten trivia questions persection. Answers are at the back of the book, but there's a hook--BONUS questions included in the answers!

I have read everything of Pratchett's I can get my hands on--several times. Thought I knew a lot about the Discworld and the inhabitants. NAH! Just a beginner.

It's a lot of fun, a lot of completely useless knowledge, and you can read it in public, if you put a plain brown wrapper on the cover.

A fun curiosity 21 Mar 2007
By John Whipple - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
If you're a die-hard Diskworld Pratchett fan and can't wait for his next novel to come out this is the book for you. It's packed with a ton of little known esocteric minutuia to satisfy those of you with a PhD from UU as well as enough better known trivia to make the rest of us feel better about not getting the hard questions right. One of the reasons this book is so difficult is that it was written for the British portion of Pratchett fandom. Our English cousins have a much richer selection of Pratchett material then do we poor Colonists. But even this is fun. It's reassuring to know that there is always something new for the American who is ready to dig a little bit to find. Buy this book now!

I think it's a bit silly, but also think any Discworld fan will enjoy this, I know I did.
