Book Description

30 April 2012
Investigating a series of gruesome murders, Swansea police detective, Harry Lambert, discovers the victims are a ring of paedophiles who have been targeted by a serial killer. When the truth about the victims' years of abuse becomes apparent, it stirs up suspicions in DI Lambert's mind about his own family history, and a past he is reluctant to face. As he and his team investigate the murders, and are plunged deep into a seedy world of suspects, victims and vigilantes alike, there is also the distinct possibility that the killer may be a reformed paedophile seeking revenge. But when a television producer becomes a suspect, Lambert discovers the motives are not as straightforward as they at first appeared, and the answer lies buried somewhere deep in the past. As he unearths the terrible truths about these horrendous crimes, he discovers they are truths that may cost him his life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good. 13 May 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book and as it was the author's first book I was very impressed. It was all the more enjoyable because I am slightly familiar with the area. It kept me guessing right up until the end though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly gripping 28 April 2013
Format:Hardcover
For those that only know Meurig Jones as actor David Barry this novel may come as a surprise. I love David's work as an actor, so wanted to discover his work as a writer. This novel is truly gripping, a real page turner and I was unable to put it down. Up to now I have only been able to read novels which have been filmed, Sherlock Holmes, Inspector Morse etc as my imagination isn't the best. The Wrecking Bar cured me of this. The characters were wholly believable, I saw their faces and mannerisms, it is so well written.
The subject matter is light years from Please Sir, so I approached it with some trepidation, but it is handled sensitively, isn't sordid or stomach churning. You really want to learn more about the lead characters, becoming involved in their lives.I will certainly be buying the follow up to The Wrecking Bar.
I really can't fault it, and this novel proves Mr Jones is a wonderful writer as well as a wonderful actor.
