Product Description

The Wounded is the THIRD book in a FOUR BOOK SERIES.

THE WANTED (#4 THE WOODLANDS SERIES) comes out in OCTOBER 2014.

You think you're in control. That it's your hands on the reins. But I'm starting to think either someone else is driving, or the reins are attached to nothing. Just flapping and snapping in the breeze. What could be simple, never is.

Rosa doesn't want to get used to being separated from Joseph, from Orry. So she must find the strength to battle her way back to her family, while mustering the courage to face her father, his secrets. With her best friend, Rash, by her side, she feels blessed and cursed. He is her saving grace, but will Joseph accept him and forgive her for leaving?

Rosa must pull these threads together as she hacks her way to The Wall with the aid of her new companions but, heartbreakingly, without the one person she'd planned to save. Finding her way home is only the beginning. The biggest changes, the shocking truths, are waiting, hovering over the town like a menacing vapor.

The Wounded have waited, nursed, and been dormant for too long. And now they're coming... dragging the ghosts of their lost ones behind them.

More About the Author

Daughter of a Malaysian nuclear physicist father and an Australian doctor mother, Lauren Nicolle Taylor was expected to follow the science career path. And she did, for a while, completing a Health Science degree with Honors in obstetrics and gynecology. But there was always a niggling need to create which led to many artistic adventures.

Lauren married her high school sweetheart at 24. They had their first child the following year. The next six years of her life were taken up with caring for her three children. She found out early on that being a parent could be as devastating as it is wonderful. Her first two children developed life-threatening conditions. At four weeks her son developed pyloric stenosis and two years later, at eight months of age, her daughter contracted meningococcal disease. Many surgeries and some very scary hospital stays later Lauren's third child was born and her parents cross their fingers and thank the gods that, so far, she hasn't needed any life-saving surgery! Her son (8) and two daughters (6) and (3) are now happy, mostly healthy and extremely boisterous.

When Lauren hit her thirties and her children's health problems began to settle, she started throwing herself into artistic endeavors, but was not entirely satisfied. The solution: Complete a massive renovation and sell their house so they could buy their dream block of land and build. After selling the house, buying the block and getting the plans ready, the couple discovered they had been misled and the block was undevelopable. This left the family of five homeless.

Taken in by Lauren's parents, with no home to renovate and faced with a stressful problem with no solution, Lauren found herself drawn to the computer. She sat down and poured all of her emotions and pent up creative energy into writing The Woodlands.

Family, a multicultural background and a dab of medical intrigue are all strong themes in her writing. Lauren took the advice of 'write what you know' and twisted it into a romantic, dystopian adventure!

Having read the previous books in the series, I'm glad to see the story continue to intrigue and keep me guessing.
As a hairy arsed buidler this isn't my usual subject matter, but I've thoroughly enjoyed them.
Bring on the 4th installment!

THE WOUNDED is the third instalment within the Woodlands series, revolving around a post-apocalyptic/ deliciously dark distopian setting in which a striking protagonist leads the way. With every new edition in the Woodlands series, Lauren N Taylor seems to exceed expectations by producing another book of breathtaking proportions. This compelling saga is so hauntingly beautiful and deeply affecting that it gets `under your skin' so as to linger upon the mind long after reading. To say that I am hooked on this book would be an understatement of my fervent enthusiasm, for the well-written story containing a cast of distinctive characters. Whisked off into a world of wonder and spellbinding secrets, I was once more taken on an incredible journey of such magnitude as to leave me in awe! The impacting resonance within the richly evocative narrative is so stunning, it really emphasises why Distopian is so popular. The ultimate question of what lengths one would go to in order to save those you loved is really highlighted in this profoundly poignant tale.

Rose will always fight to get her family back, but this time her love for her family may get her into more trouble...

THE WOUNDED tugs at the heartstrings by exploring the power of love and how this single emotion alters and defines our lives. Character-driven and action-packed this noteworthy novel is one that will delight fans of Divergent and the hunger games! What makes this series stand-out is how the authenticity and realism is so acute, you are able to connect with the characters on such a personal level as to make you feel a part of their story. Rose's journey of self-discovery is very moving and full of heartfelt sincerity and depth, which many teens and YA readers will instantly draw from.

*I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review*

WOW!! We are once again whisked into the world of Rosa as she tries to get to, protect, fight for and find peace with her family. But there is tension growing within all of the wounded, they need to fight for those they have lost and for those they can't stand to lose.

Book 3 continues just as we left the characters in book 2. It is once again full of losses and love. Another epic dystopian that really explores how far you would be willing to go to save and protect your family. I was captivated by the story Lauren had continued and once again, I am at the point where I can't wait for more. :) Happy reading everyone x

5.0 out of 5 stars a trips down imagination road review 12 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a copy of The Wounded, book 3 of The Woodlands, in exchange for my review.

Having successful completed the mission to extract the Spiders from the Woodlands, all Rosa can think about is getting back to the Wall, and to Orry and Joesph, even though she has her best friend Rash back. Things are never that simple around Rosa though, especially when it turns out that the Spider her team collected is none other than her father, who abandoned her when she was 8. Back at the Wall, things haven't gone to plan, with Woodlands soldiers having forced the people into hiding. Knowing that they can't stay in their settlement they know that they have to move, and their plan to liberate the Woodlands is put into motion.

I actually cried. More than once. I can't really say which events they were that I cried at but one was regarding Orry and one regarding Rosa (and now anyone who has read the book will know exactly which bits I am talking about). I think that The Wounded was even more emotional than the previous two books, The Woodlands and The Wall, which is something that I liked about the book; that it wasn't all action, and it wasn't all lovey dovey or beat the establishment emotions, instead Taylor creates real characters with real emotions.

The biggest example of this is probably Orry. Now for a start Rosa has come on leaps and bounds in her relationship with her son since she woke up 4 months pregnant (this is where I interject and say that you shouldn't read this book as a stand alone), and now she is the mother that she always could have been but didn't seem to realise it.
