Book Description

7 Jun 2010
Take, for example, Enriqueta Marti who kidnapped children from the streets of Barcelona, then boiled away their flesh and crushed their bones for ingredients for her coveted 'magic potions'. Or take Randy Kraft, known as The Scorecard Killer, a computer genius by day and a a deranged psychopath by night. Finally arrested with a corpse slumped in the passenger seat of his car, it emerged that Kraft had spent over a decade cutting up and disposing of his numerous victims along the California highways. In this stomach-churning collection, all the stories have one thing in common - a unique bizarre twist. True crime writer James Marrison draws upon the material that has featured in the hugely successful column The Murder File in cult magazine Bizarre in order to disclose the kind of sickening deeds that are perpetrated more often than you might think, but which sometimes go largely unreported by the media. Welcome to The World's Most bizarre Murders - the most shocking true crime book you will ever read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected. 29 July 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Not that long or exciting. Not very interesting. Just kind of skims over cases I had already heard about. Not really 'bizarre' as it's title implies. Not impressed. A light read. Not really worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars The World's Most Bizarre Murders 14 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Poorly written, no intrigue or depth to writing. No insight into killer profiles - disappointing. Much better books on killers out there - The Jigsaw Man would be one of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling 14 Jun 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Some of the content in this book makes you really question humanity (or the lack of it!!). A well put together collection of the strangest and most horrifying murder cases in the world, ranging from child killers to cannibals. I love the time span that it covers too; this book isn't just one of those that talks about things happening in the last 10 years - it goes way back, which I liked.

3.0 out of 5 stars World's most bizarre murders. 8 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An interesting book. With lots of short case studies. However the case studies are too short, and the whole book only a couple of days to read. A very easy book to read, but a bit too rushed on the factual side.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and well worth the read 18 Jan 2012
By Richard
Format:Kindle Edition
This is quite an interesting work, whilst it does not dwell on each case or go into great detail, it does offer an insight into some less well known but pretty nasty killers.

Very good value on Kindle!

2.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING 28 May 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book starts off very well. The first 100 pages or so give some good information, quite well written, about some grizzly murders. There's a little bit of "what makes people do this?" but not much. It isn't a Criminal Psychology book; more a sensationalised account, but quite good nevertheless. If you can bear the typographical errors, spelling mistakes and malapropisms (who on EARTH proof-read this?) which I admit, I found difficult to get past, then it's quite entertaining. However, by chapter 13, the author has started to go off at a tangent, talking about witches and serial killer groupies; the women who write to men on death row. This has little to do with the title and just under half the book is dedicated to it. I ended up flicking through the last 100 pages or so. I had no interest in bizarre scientists - a whole chapter dedicated to weirdos but in some cases, they had nothing to do with murders. It's as though the author had a really good idea and then halfway through his research started to find EVERYTHING interesting. Sadly, I did not.

If you are looking for a simple unchallenging read, this is a great book if your looking for intellectual stimulation of thought perhaps another book is best, great easy reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars my chosen bed time read
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Have recommended it to many students who are also studying criminal psychology. Something a little easier than study but equally as interesting.

This is a book you can dip in and out of, as it is written in relatively short, readbale chapters. It's a good book on the subject should you be interested in it, but be warned -... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit sensationalised
True crime is always hard to review and this one even more so. Obviously the stories are dark and disturbing but in places it seemed a bit sensationalised. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant read
I enjoyed this book, easy reading and just enough detail. Nice to read about some lesser known crimes instead of the same ones time and again.
