This book is the kind of book that you want to have around. If you flick open a random page, you will be greeted with a world class travel destination, complete with a sumptuous picture and some basic information. If I was a rich man, I think I'd play travel-roulette with it.
Don't buy it as a travelers guide, because the information on each location is basic and there are some great spots missed out (that's not really so bad, seeing as this book spans the whole globe in less than seven hundred pages), buy it as a great idea book. My travel schedule is pretty packed right now, but this book has already added about fifty destinations that I'm going to have to see. In fact, its adding to the list a lot faster than I can travel ;-)
It's not in depth by any means, but for what it is, it's absolutely great. If you're planning on holidaying or traveling a lot in the future, but are lacking inspiration, it's perfect. If you just want to look at pretty places, it's perfect. It's pretty hard to be in a bad mood with this book around...

I bought this as a wedding present for friends who love to travel. It's a really beautiful book even for those who stay at home. You can curl up in an armchair and feel you are travelling. I know many of the places included and wish I had taken photographs half as good.

I was so suprised at the size and quality of this book. And at the current price its a bargin. I am a traveller and will be using this book for my next journey ideas. Great Coffee Table piece.

Not bad
For the price I paid, this is a good deal. It's a bit too much of a "coffee table book" for me. I'd have liked a wee bit more of geological/scientific background. Read more
