From the Author

The most powerful, simple system available ... easy to learn
"Lance" and I have worked together on behavioral research for many years. He as psychologist and I as a management consultant in technology. His system and my computer background made it a perfect match to teach the Hi-Opt I system in our book. The Hi-Opt I system is regarded as the most powerful, simple system that can be developed. Since the math hasn't changed with Blackjack, this is why our book continues to be a leader. We also worked hard to make the book fun and the system easy to learn. We've included stories from our thousands of hours in casinos, and have presented the Hi-Opt I system in an easy to learn, step-by-step fashion. Someone is paying the electric bill for the signs outside of casinos ... but not our readers! --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

A Great Value 20 May 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The is the most straightforward book on any gambling topic I have ever read. Finally, a book that shots straight, and uses fact to support its arguements. 90% of all casino books are foolishly written, and based entirely on LUCK. These authors not only wrote a complete mathematical arguement, but supported each possible play with an actual occurence they encountered in casino play. Even if you aren't looking to conquer the casinos, this book is well worth the price in entertainment value.

PS: I'm doing very well with the system...

The book is a comprehensive account of Blackjack in a casino (or at home) and prepares the player for every pitfall a 'cheating' casino my put in your way. The book has been written with a heavy influence from the authors personal experiences and thus is not two dimensional and boring like some other texts (I enjoyed the author talk about Las Vegas mobsters and the underground world of organised crime). Humble makes sure that if he has mentioned an important point, the point is elaborated upon and explained thoroughly in following chapters.
As for the mathematics of the card counting systems; understanding the algebra behind the Hi Opt system and trying to understand exactly what Humble is trying to say can be a little overwhelming in parts. When faced with these chapters I recommend going back and reading the chapter several times.
This book is well worth purchasing, but before you spend your hard earned money on this classic piece of literature. Explore the Blackjack forum pages on the internet to see what the world champion blackjack players recommend.

Excellent title 15 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book takes you from the basics of how blackjack is played, the foundations of good play and then into the counting system that the authors developed. Its very well written and allows you to add layers onto your playing skill by revisiting specific chapters and adding those areas when you feel proficient.

The only downside with the book is the era in which it was originally written. There is a strong overtone of cheating casinos, mobsters and heavy handed tactics.

A number of books are classics in this area and they tend to be mentioned a lot in other titles or by players. This is certainly one of them and the authors have certainly known and are known by other classic writers.
