Italian heartthrob Nicola Agosto was Memphis’ most eligible bad boy seven years ago, but after falling in love with local college beauty queen, Ivy Winters, he settled down and started a beautiful family.

Now as a father of four and a loving husband, he has ascended up the ranks of the Memphis Police Department and positioned himself as a dependable and trustworthy top cop. However, he is known for protecting his officers and not taking anything off criminals, a trait that will not bode well for him in the near future.

When four children are found raped and murdered, Nicola is the first person assigned to the high profile case, tapped personally by the brass. Partnered with a new age bad boy, Luke Johnson, and determined to solve the case, he stumbles on a conspiracy so big until the men responsible have no choice but to set him up and get him out of the picture.

He’s accused of being a racist and charged with abusing his power. Put on suspension pending an investigation, he is faced with losing the only job that he’s ever known as well as his freedom.

Realizing that even without a badge, Nicola could be a problem, The Three Wise Men, the conspirers behind the elaborate plot, now want more than Nicola’s badge; they also want his life. With nowhere to turn and bound by promises he refuses to break, Nicola turns to his sworn enemy, Russian crime boss Dmitry Medlov. And its just time to save him and his family from being brutally murdered. A favor for a favor grants Nicola the man and firepower he needs finally solve the case, but it also forces him to go against everything that he’s ever stood for.

This was a little more violent than I was expecting but loved the grit. I'm now interested in seeing where the character Nicola Agosto goes from here. Can't wait for the next one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Glad I finished it... 29 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first of Latrivia Nelson's works that I've read. I have Ivy's Twisted Vine and never read it. Hahahaha, and here I read the second part, soooo I'm going to have to go back now and read the beginning. In any case, I enjoyed this one. There were times however that I felt irritated by the constant, 'Screaming' of men, instead of, 'Shouted, Shouting, Bellowed, blazed, growled, barked... there were so many other words that could have been used instead of tough men, constantly SCREAMING... please think about that Mrs. Nelson.

For some reason, due to your bestselling status, I also thought the book would have been more polished. I always feel bad about my own publications when I miss typos, make grammatical errors and I can't wait to be in a position to afford a proof-reader. As I'm not YET - a best seller, I can't afford a proofer, but I have the help of beta-readers. Anyway, I don't feel so bad about my own anymore. Having said that, I will certainly do my best to clean up my mess before it's released, but as we authors know, it's easier said than done.

As for the story, yeah - nice story. While I could put it down, as soon as time allowed, I was picking it right back up again, so that's a good sign. I can't say how many books I've started and couldn't finish because the story just wasn't doing it for me. So if you like a good police story, with a bit of bad/good guys thrown in and all the action as well, here you go. It goes without saying, that I will be reading more of Latrivia Nelson's work - ie; Ivy's Twisted Vine, lmbo... *wink*

4.0 out of 5 stars I really liked it, but.... 19 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read 90% of Ms Nelson's work, and they generally fall into two categories. Those books I love and those books I like! Like most of her fans, I have patiently waited for the release of this title, and I loved being submerged into the Memphis world of Agosto and Medlov. The pace was just what I wanted and I read it in one day, because I couldn't bear to be parted from my Kindle. Having said all that, I just didn't love it, and I really wanted to... I however highly recommend it and will as always be ready to read the next instalment of the Agosto/Medlov story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It! Loved It! Loved It! 3 Aug 2013

Absolutely loved this book! I would wholly recommend this novel.

I have purchased other books, by other authors, for more money, with less pages; and I have never received the "bang for my buck" like I did with this one.

This was a coming together of all the "alphas" that the author writes about. Dimitry said it best (read the book to understand).

Latrivia Nelson wrote a well developed story that left the reader (me) not wanting to put it down.

My only complaint were some editing issues, but the book is sooo good, that you move on and overlook them.

Latrivia Nelson is up there with some of my favorites: SK, Erosa Knowles, Sienna Mynx, Violette Dubrinsky, Pepper Pace, Yvette Hines, Mallory Monroe, Aliyah Burke, Nia Foxx, Francette Phal, Shara Azod and so many others.

The beauty of all of these authors is that their writing styles are so different, but their books always entertain. Each author's style speaks for itself, but the reader is always left with a feeling of "why does it have to end?"

I cannot wait for the next novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Way to Spend a Saturday 4 Aug 2013

I am a huge fan of Ms. Nelson, so I was eagerly awaiting this book. I bought it in the morning and read pretty much nonstop all day. You will not be disappointed. It's so good to see Nicola and Ivy, not to mention the Medlovs again and catch up on all of their shenanigans. It was worth the wait, and I would totally recommend it. Finishing it was bittersweet because now ill just have to wait around for another book. Sigh.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWWWWSOME!!!!! 12 Aug 2013

My problem with this book is that it ended. Latrivia has done it again. OMG, I love this author.

This is the story of Nicola having to sell his soul to the devil to protect his family. The Medlov's are back and that is enough for me to spend $100.00 on this book. I LOVE the Medlov men - especially Anatoly. The bad thing about this book was that I was wanted more about every character. I wanted to know how Renee was doing after the baby. I wanted to know how Anatoly was handling being a father. I wanted to know what was up with Gabriel and Briggy. I wanted to know how Dmity's daughter was doing after the kidnapping. But this wasn't their story to tell, it was Nicola's, and he did not disappoint. Man, I feel like I know these people and I love these Russian gangstas.

Looks like there will be another book, and I am grateful. I hope it doesn't take too long. But I know you can't rush perfection.

I have not read Ivy's Twisted Vine, but I had no trouble with this one. I have read all of the Medlov books though.

Please check out this author, she is AWESOME!!! Somebody needs to offer this woman a movie deal.

3.0 out of 5 stars The World In Reverse? 3 Aug 2013

First let me start by saying I have waited quiet impatiently for this book for a year now. I was elated when Ms. Nelson finally finished and shared her craft. This story was different it is not so much an IR romance but more a crime mystery novel. It was well written and even the secondary characters were well developed. I give this book 3 stars because for me it was lacking something. At some points I felt it was detail overload. I wanted more on Ivy & Nicola as a couple being that in Ivy Twisted Vine we did not get to see so much detail on their relationship. Johnson, Nicola partner is a breakout character, a good chunk of the book is devoted to his character which I would love to see a follow up story. Because the story is so detailed you do not need to read the other books in the series but should because they are Phenomenal! At some points the story dragged on it was so many key players. But on a brighter note we get to see the Melov clan again all of whom I love. It is something about that crime family that does something too me. All in all this was a great story and the price is not bad. But in my opinion and this is just my opinion this was not my favorite. I was looking for more romance and not so much focus on the business/crime aspect. I would recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Memphis Must....Read! 12 Aug 2013
By Nicky - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
4 **** stars. Wonderful plot. I could feel Nicola's struggle, his angst, and his final resolve. A man trapped one one hand, between honor, and loyalty to his job and his principles and on the other family honor...the love for his family, his oath to protect them at all costs, his pride and his dignity...and in the end, asymmetrically fulfilling both duties for a price...I can't wait to read the sequel to this novel. Some editing required to correct typos and grammatical errors. Would've given it 5*****stars but for the sloppy editing.
