Apparently P.G.W was accused of writing books that contained all the usual characters, just under different names. After reading this, you will understand why, but as its only very minor characters that are affected, it really doesn't matter. The presence of Psmith makes up for any shortcomings this book may have. I've heard that Psmith was actually based on a real person, which is actually quite scary. I think after reading this book, most people will agree that Psmith is one of the best characters Wodehouse ever wrote - at times he makes Jeeves look slow, which is quite something. All three storylines are up to, or above Wodehouse's usual standard, and in general it is very well worht reading. Buy it. What more can I say?

Unputdownable 13 July 2005

If you've never met Psmith before, prepare to be bowled over by his charming, slightly louche, somewhat ridiculous personality. He's got a moral code and it is amusing and touching to see it tested and strained by the silliest of events. Wonderful Wodehouse in his prime.

3/4 Psmith books 19 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback
Psmith is one of my favourite characters in the PG Wodehouse canon and I was a little disappointed to find that this collection omitted Mike and Psmith, the first occurence of Psmith.

I was not too distraught, however, as the whole collection is worth purchasing for Psmith Journalist alone, even if some of the sentiments expressed are very much of their time. (Sam the gang member, to take one example)

If you are a Wodehouse fan and have not yet sampled Psmith then this is a good collection, but I would recommend starting with Mike and Psmith, which introduces the character of Psmith.

I have a first edition of the same collection which has all four books. Perhaps Mike and Psmith has been collected into a different series.

Excellent, as expected of Wodehouse.
