Product Description

Product Description

The next 10 books of the new range ("The World Of..."), following on from the first 8 titles. They cover core curriculum topics in KS3 English, Maths, Science, French, geography and history. Ideas are placed within the context of real-life scenarios to make the topics relevant and interesting. At Year 7, the contexts are introduced by four characters, whilst at Year 8 and 9 they use real-life examples to make the topics relevant and memorable. This approach reflects the emphasis in schools towards more contextualized-learning, i.e. learning about things within a relevant situation. Engaging, full-colour, content-rich spreads also include 'top tips' and 'did you know' features at Year 7. At Year 8 there are 'top tip' and 'key fact' panels and in year 9 there are 'examiner's tips' and 'key fact' features to help students prepare for their SATs. There are also end of section revision spreads, comprising a mixture of short answer and structured questions to recap and revise what's been learnt so far.

Very good! 30 Sep 2010
Format:Paperback
I'm a student and i teach kids maths and english part time so i thought it would be a good idea to get a book and structure to go by when teaching the child. The book is very good and comic, and has different topics to work on from homophones to punctuation to poetry. Each topic has a page with an explanatory story using quirky characters along with a page that has a fun activity or exercise for practise. The page with lots of writing builds confidence in reading and the child I teach loves working from the book as it has different sorts of activities each time. Each topic has a 'tips' box and there's a test at the end of each section so I can see how the child is doing. Although alot of the tasks in the book are simple and easily completed, it's a good basis to set extra work from. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants extra practise for english at home with their child.
