excellent - shows the real real world in one place

a truly human rights manual because you can see examples of good practice in govt and reconciliation examples

One of the better reference books available. The ranking tables are sadly only available online and would make a useful addition.Perhaps the space used for military manpower potential could be discarded in future editions to provide room.
Yet still contains errors ,probably due to sloppy inputting.
E.g Bulgaria's electricity output is understated by 90% and 4.8% of Algerian imports are said to come from Tajikistan when I believe Turkey was meant.
Suffers somewhat from a dogmatic ideological bias- poor economic performance is usually put down to inefficient socialist policies, yet Puerto Rico despite four years of contracting GDP (which the book concedes)is described as one of the most dynamic economies in the Caribbean. One can only pity the rest.
Some amazing ignorance shown. Tonga is said to be the only monarchy in the Pacific. Quite where that leaves New Zealand,Papua New Guinea,the Solomons and Tuvalu is anyone's guess. Japan,Australia and Canada are also left out in the cold.
Otherwise an excellent book, but a little more effort could have saved the C.I.A from looking slipshod.

If the price paid was per word received, this must be the bargain of the year ! However, the downside is and especially in Kindle format, is that one is not able to skim the book, and find relevant information. There is just so much information that even a search provides far too many options to digest.

It is worth what a lying -- it is worth having as a reference, but I suspect one will only refer to it in emergencies ! maybe that was what it was designed for in the first place.
