Highly Recomended 24 Oct 2010
Format:Hardcover
I recommend 'The Workbench Guide to Jewelry Techniques' to any one who has an interest in silversmithing.
Having completed a short jewellery course I was looking for a book that would help jog my memory of basic and advanced techniques. It has step by step notes which are easy to follow and is illustrated clearly to aid your learning.
This book is full of useful tips and a clear explanation of all equipment needed to get you started with a view to building your workbench to a professonal standard. It has a comprehensive list of suppliers for all your jewellery needs.
It will become an inavaluable source of information to aid your creativity.

This is a very informative book written so it makes easy reading with pictures and diagrams which helps even more. I wouldnt recommend it for people that had never had any experience with silver soldering etc, but once you have mastered that, the rest should make sense. I have only been on a 12 week evening course at the local College for one evening a week, so I am not an experienced jeweller by any means and I found it easy to try some of the techniques in the book. I have to say some of the things just ended up a mangled mess, but some I am quite proud of and I have also sold some to friends, which pays for the silver.

I love this book. As a reference guide to an exhaustive range of techniques it would be difficilt to beat - it has already become indispensible. The illustrated instructions are clear and concise and the pictures of designer jewellery are inspirational.
Highly recommended.
