Lunds book brought to life very interesting film of the fictional steed family and the way thay lived portaying factual times in the new york area of the 19th centuary:the meeting of joseph smith (L.D.S. church) and the intolerance towards him. the film is put to gether well and portrays the conditions of the time.

Two reasons why this is a 4/5 stars (though should have had a 5 star rating), is that firstly the trilogy does not cover the full saga from the books; they deal with only the main events of the first generation of Steed family. Second, that the main story line doesn't really do justice to the younger members of the Steed family and as a result, some of the more thought provoking and interesting story leads are missed out to give way to more film time of the clash between the two handsome Steed sons.
Other than that, the films are fantastic. The actors are believable, the costumes are fantastic, and best of all, the historical aspect is spot on. You can't help but be drawn into it. It is simply a huge pity that they have stopped the films where they have, which is probably about half way through the original book story line.
I highly recommend this trilogy to anyone, but it should come with a warning that you can't just watch one film without having the time to sit down and watch all three back to back.

A fabulous movie Trilogy for "Family Home Evening" viewing. Terrific story well written by Gerald Lund.
