This is the amazing story of how three British servicemen escaped from Germany during the last war. The problem they faced was that the huts were too far away from the wire for them to dig a successful tunnel - the answer was to move the start of the tunnel closer to the wire! To achieve this, the prisoners began an exercise regime using a home made box-horse. Having established this program they then sited the tunnel entrance inside the horse and underneath the eyes and guns of the German sentries and compound guards. They dug for months, some times leaving the horse unattended whilst they ran around the compound, but they finally escaped and made a successful "home run".
Yes this film is dated, and yes it is in black and white, but it graphically shows the determination of our fighting men under adversity - in this case, possibly it was that wrinkly in the corner of your pub nursing a pint!
Someone one said that "Truth is stranger that fiction"; it is, and without the assistance of Hollywood!
