The Wonderful Adventure of Uncle Wizard

Grim Wizard has defeated the Great Wizards and captured Wizard HQ. Only one wizard can save the day.

And that wizard is Uncle Wizard!

Unfortunately, Uncle Wizard is hopeless at spells. Once he accidentally sucked all the clouds out of the sky with an enchanted vacuum cleaner.

But with his trusty friend, Bob the Pigeon, Uncle Wizard sets off the Land of Forever in search of the only spell that can defeat Grim Wizard.

His adventure sees him soaring through the clouds on a flying cow, catching a ride with a waddling-rock, and bouncing around on a bionic-fridge! He must battle through the Cavern of Peril, escape the Maze of Infinity, and survive the Lair of the Thunder Troll. He meets many fabulous creatures on the way; the singing-potatoes, a herd of moon-camels, and of course, a beautiful witch.

What a fantastic book! I'm a year 3 Primary School Teacher (7-8year olds) and bought this to read with my kiddies (great for adjective work amongst other curriculum stuff!) However, I was very suprised as I think I loved the book more than the kids themselves. Bob the pigeon is a genius character and I can't wait for the next installment!

I too am a Primary School Teacher and on advice from a friend shared Uncle Wizard with my class. They loved it! Not only did they enjoy the funny story from beginning to end but I also used it as the basis for their writing. They loved the wow words (adjectives) used which create vivid and exciting scenes. This inspired them to use such language themselves and they produced exciting outcomes! The characters are imaginative, especially Bob The Pigeon who I thought was hilarious!

A real family read that as an adult you can enjoy too. I am so glad I was pointed towards the work of Richard Anderson. I would highly recommend this and look forward to more of his work. 5 stars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
