This book mainly consists of photographs taken of or by landgirls during the Second World War. The photographs are divided into sections, dealing with the different aspects of work, accomodation, social life etc that the land girls experienced. Each section has a brief introduction and the photographs are clearly captioned.
If you are looking for a detailed account of the Women's Land Army, then I would recommend All Muck No Medals by Joan Mant or They Fought in the Fields by Nicola Tyrer. For a book that includes the Land Army during World War One, try Women on the Land by Carol Twinch. However, this book is an excellent introduction for those who do not have the time or inclination to read much. The number and variety of photographs also make it an excellent addition to the books mentioned above.
