I would give the Wombles itself a 5, but this dvd is badly authored.
The episode "A Sticky Ending" is missing and they duplicated "Madame Cholet Returns".
Most of the episodes are in the wrong order, so if you click on an episode title, you get a different episode.
Very disappointing. I hope that the makers resolve this issue and replace these faulty dvds.

Apparently one episode is missing and another duplicated.
What I do notice is that the episodes are not in order and when you click on the episodes by the episode selection menu, you are not taken to that particular episode but a completely different one.
Terrible DVD authoring, and obviously not tested before released to the public.
It's a shame as this was one show that was crying out for a DVD release and has become an embaressing shambles

It's now one year since the review saying the mistakes are being rectified. They are still there on a copy I received from Amazon last week.
When your child asks for a particular episode the menu will take you to a different one. It's irritating and takes the fun out of watching.
The quality of the sound and picture is no better than the VHS tapes we own.

Following on from Mr. P. R. Clarke's review (27 May 2008), I contacted Abbey Home Media regarding this title and they replied on May 28th as follows:
"There was indeed found to be an error with the manufacture of both discs in 'The Wombles Complete Collection' boxset. Abbey Home Media were made aware of this problem on release and notified all retailers immediately.
This problem has now been rectified and we have been advised by the manufacturer to expect delivery of new stock this week."

The content of this dvd gives our grandson some idea of the type of childrens' programme his mum used to watch way back when ... It is just a shame that a few of the episodes jump from the opening music to the last 10 seconds of the episode instead of just playing what should be there.
It's not on every track, just some, but it does slightly spoil the enjoyment of the experience.
For the price paid, though, it's not a catastrophe, because most of the episodes are ok.

My son loves this collection (and the rest of the family too!). We bought it for his birthday and we are very pleased with it. It brought back many happy memories for the wife and I. I would recommend it without reservation.

Brought back memories and my kids (age 18,19 and 12!!!) used to watch it when they were little so as a treat this christmas we bougt this and are watching it again this weekend. Our fave episode has to be the Hiccup one where the wombles eat Madame Cholets Buttercup Crumpets when hot and they get the hiccups - always makes me laugh!

It's amazing how new tv programs still don't come up to the mark of these old classics.
The only thing that surprises me is how short the episodes are! Never remember it being that short when I watched it.
