I think one of my favourite things about this book are the illustrations. The simple line drawings clearly show each pose but still retain a human element. I found them to be much clearer than photographs of poses from other books.
The book is divided into sections based on the various needs of women throught their cycle. So you have sections that show postures to help with your enery levels or if you suffer from migrane or sleep problems. At the end of the book there are several routines that you can use for your daily practice. This makes the book very easy to use on a daily basis. Pity you have to weight down the edges to get it to lie flat!
THe writing is clear and the descriptions of the postures, although detailed, are easy to follow. There is also a lot of interestig information about yoga and its practice in general.
This book would make a wonderful gift for any woman who practices yoga but its probably not the best starting point if you have never done any yoga and are looking to get started.

The Woman`s Yoga Book 12 Sep 2011
By Tami Brady TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Except for reproductive purposes, I think most woman think very little about their cycles. When we are trying to conceive, we become interested in increasing our chances of reproductive success but apart from that our monthly cycle is more of a burden than anything. In our hectic lives, we don`t want anything slowing us down.

The Woman`s Yoga Book is about looking at our menstrual cycle in a different way. The female body is actually a pretty amazing design. We have these built in cycles that force us to slow down and replenish our strength and energy. When we ignore these gifts, we get worn out and lost in the chaos of everyday. However, if we learn to listen to our bodies, we find the perfect mechanisms to rebalance ourselves.

The Woman`s Yoga Book sets out guidelines about what types of yoga postures we should be doing at each step of our cycle. Be that stabilizing, restoring, rebalancing, or strengthening. Most importantly, this book teaches women to listen to the wisdom of our bodies. It may be inconvenient to care for ourselves but by pushing through we ignore the opportunity to gain the strength and clarity of mind necessary to do all the things we need to do each day.

Format:Paperback
This book was recommended by my yoga teacher as the book to get first before anything else. I have found it interesting reading so far. The illustrations and sequences are quite clear and thorough and there are explanations of what each pose is doing for your body. There is quite a lot of reference to the women's cycle and how this affects body and mind. I have found this interesting and entertaining although I am not sure that I agree with everything that is said. There are a lot of recommendations made about what foods to eat or not eat, wearing of tampons, etc, and I am not sure if this is backed up with sound medical advice- maybe it is? Some of it sounds like common sense too though. Thought provoking nonetheless.
