Somewhere in the jungles of Uganda, there hides a fugitive rebel-leader: he is said to take his orders direct from the spirit world and, together with his ragged army of brutalised child soldiers, he has left a bloody trail of devastation across his country. Intrigued by the myths, Matthew green heads off into the war zone, meeting the victims, the peacemakers and the regional prowerbrokers, as he tracks down the man himself.

About the Author
Born in 1976, Matthew Green, studied African politics at university, and has spent four years on the ground in East Africa as a reporter for Reuters. He is now the West Africa correspondent for the Finacila Times. This is his first book
I found this book to be highly readable and very interesting. It is a fine account not only of the obscure and mysterious Kony and his Lords Resistance Army but also of the politics and events of the post colonial Uganda. The authors travels into northern Uganda in search of Kony and his followers is at times spooky and you can feel the menace and evil lurking out there along with spectres from Uganda's past like Idi Amin. The author has done a great job shining a light on a subject who despite his notoriety remains essentially a murky character hidden in the shadows.
Was not sure how good this might be but I was not disapointed. Its a thoroughly good read and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in Africa.

Fantastic mix of the history and personal stories of those affected (as well as those partially responsible) by the ongoing tragedy. A great easy read to get the reader to understand the scope and scale of the events unfolding in CAR, DROC, ROSS and Northern Uganda.
