Product Description

In this third electrifying title, the witch's children's friend, Gemma, is scared about her first day at school. So, the Little One turns her into an ogre to give her courage . . . but ogres don't fit in at school. Never mind. The Little One has a solution - to turn the whle school into a storybook, which is a good place for an ogre. The trouble is, the witch's children are very good at doing spells but not so good at undoing them. . . who can help?

Excellent series 8 Aug 2010

My children's favourite in this excellent series of books. The Witch's Children continually cause mayhem with spells that they do not know how to reverse, until mum comes to put everything right. So, the first day of school gives ample opportunies for trouble. When their friend is scared to go in when she sees older children, they turn her into a troll. She is no longer scared, but she terrorises everyone else - oh, and eats the Wendy House... This is a very funny story and the reader knows that whatever happens it will all be fine at the end. The illustrations are also a joy.

We bought this book from a second hand dealer on Amazon (save the rainforests!) What an excellent, well written and extremely funny book.
We had already read 'The Witch's children and the Queen' which we think is the best in the series of three books. A must read for any child aged 4 to 104!

The witch's children get into magical scrapes and are eventually rescued by Mum - so there is an endearingly secure ending to their alarums and excursions. A popular book with this reader and a variety of readees, densely illustrated and just the right length for bedtime; something of a classic already in this household.
