Product Description

Heart-breaking, heart-stopping and breathless, frightening and funny. It plunges readers into danger and darkness. Crypts, caves, castles, mines, farms and mansions are its settings good versus evil its theme... I don't know if it's the next Tolkein, JK Rowling, Philip Pullman or Derek Landy. I do know this is a fantastic, phantasmagorical read. --Scarborough News

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book 16 Dec 2012
My husband bought this book for me at Pickering station. The name in itself was enough to make me want to read this book. A new author, not sure what to expect, but I can assure you I was not dissappointed. I absolutely loved this book, it took me into a wonderful world of light elves and goblins, a real page turner. I have now lent the book to my step son, who I am sure will love it as much as I did. I hope we can expect more adventures in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book 3 Dec 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I've just read the Witcher Keys, and cannot recommend this book highly enough. The heroes, both human and mythical, are likeable and believable, and the villains are as evil a bunch of scoundrels as you're ever going to encounter. It is a beautifully written book; the story moves at a quick pace, but never feels hurried. I became completely immersed in the world the author had created, and it felt as though I was saying goodbye to old friends at the end of the book. The author's descriptions of the north Yorks moors, the setting for the Witcher Keys, are excellent; I could almost feel the sharp breeze and hear the wind rustling the trees. If you want a good read, buy this book. Just make sure you have plenty of free time, as it's nigh on impossible to put down once started.

By Rachel
What an absolutely fantastic story that will appeal to all ages, a real page turner. It takes the 2 young mortals on an adventure that is exciting and nail biting with the unexpected round every corner. Its the best book I have read in a long time. Thank you Ian Johnson, hope we don't have to wait too long for another one of your adventures.

I'm amazed how finally someone new has touched on the unseen world of goblins and folklore and weaved in an inspiring tale which is so scarily believable! I gaze in to every hedge wondering what I'm missing...well done Ian Johnson.

Good luck and thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Read it and recommend it to a friend 14 Jan 2013
Without drawing too many parallels, this book is Harry Potter for the literary astute and The Hobbit with a dose of the real world. The descriptions and narrative are beautifully crafted, building a perfect picture of the terrain of the North York Moors and the action that takes place there.
I became totally absorbed and struggled to put the book down.
Read it and tell your friends about it before Peter Jackson makes it his next film project!

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating and enthralling.... 6 Nov 2012
This book is totally enthralling and transports you into a parallel world of goblins which mixed smoothly and beautifully with our own. Ian Johnson is brilliantly descriptive in this book for teenagers, although I am far from being a teenager and I was completely captivated by it. I would highly recommend it to everyone, especially those with a vivid imagination. You will not regret buying this book, I assure you.
