Product Description

Product Description

Thomas Troward was an early New Thought writer who had an immense impact on those who would follow. Ernest Holmes, Frederick Bailes, Joseph Murphy, and Emmett Fox cited him as a major influence, and Genevieve Behrend was his student. It is impossible to over estimate his importance to the New Thought movement. His intense fusion of Eastern and Western philosophy is unmatched. The Law and the Word explores the connection between thought energy, scientific reasoning, and creative power. Chapters include Some Facts in Nature, Some Psychic Experiences, Man's Place in the Creative Order, The Law of Wholeness, The Soul of the Subject, The Promises, and Death and Immortality. The Creative Process in the Individual scientifically explains the sequence of creative activity starting from the beginnings of life through the development of mankind. We each have a divine right of creation. Sharing in that divine power to create what is good will open up a wonderful vista of possibilities. The Edinburgh and Dore Lectures on Mental Science are required reading for anyone wishing to understand and control the power of the mind. Without these lectures the New Thought Movement and The Science of Mind might never have been born.

Having be a self help junkie for many years now, I have always felt that all the books I have read are saying the same thing but without actually getting to the point. Always saying they will tell you how it's done but fill up there pages with shared stories from other authors and never realy cut to the chase. Finally I came across Thomas Troward and his Edinburgh lecture. The book is far from a wishy washy copy of the numerous other books on sale but an indepth description of how spirit and your consious mind are joined and knowing this how best to use it for your advantage (or disadvantage if your not carefull). It's far from a light reading but needs to be read at a slow pace over and over until it sinks deeper and deeper. The more indepth I studied each paragraph the more my observation of the outside world changed but more importantly, the more care and understanding I have now with the inside world.

For the Serious Student 9 July 2009
By Zen Druid - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Many people have come in contact with New Thought teachings through movies like The Secret and modern sources such as Rev Michael Beckwith. There are several giants in the new thought movement, such as Ernest Holmes, and almost all owe something to the works of Thomas Troward. Troward is not the easiest read, he was a judge and often writes in a rather slow, methodical, and logical manner. No fuzzy thinking or airy thoughts, he makes each point solid before he moves on and woe to the reader who doesn't follow along. That being said, Troward's work is absolutely invaluable to the Western mystical practitioner. He gives much theory but always is down-to-earth and it will only take a little consideration for the student to put these marvelous ideas into practice. This book contains 4 of his excellent works, in a progression that should make sense to most readers. Five solid stars.

Better than "The Secret" 30 Sep 2008
By Natureboy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is one of the classics of the New Thought philosophy very lightly touched on in the movie "The Secret". Troward gives a very thorough explaination of the ideas of New Thought and rationally explains what they are and how they work. Its not about making a wish and waiting for "God" to deliver goods like some UPS deliveryman, instead its about identifying what you want and pursuing it in the real world by the sweat of your own brow as it were and having faith in yourself and in "God" to help you get it. To quote Troward, "God will provide the food, but he will not cook the dinner."

The Wisdom of Thomas Troward Vol 1: The Edinburgh and Dore Lectures on Mental Science, The Law and the Word, The Creative Proce 29 Mar 2008
By Dr. Raymond Durussel - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Profound understanding is demonstrated in his writings. As a Rosicrucian and a Christian mystic I was deeply impressed with Judge Troward's grasp of the mysteries of our spiritual evolution.
