Review

I recommend this book to all women. (Deepak Chopra)

Dr Chris Northrup's book is an outstanding collection of information and case histories that will benefit everyone who reads it. ((Bernie Segal- author of 'Life, Medicine and Miracles') 'If you can't have Dr Northrup for your doctor, read her book.')

- Larry Dossey MD, author of 'Healing Breakthroughs ('For women of a certain age, The Wisdom of Menopause could be just the book you've been waiting for. Menopause doesn't have to be a dreaded curse of ageing during which we can look forward only to hot flushes and hormonal mood swings. According to Christi)

It helps that Northrup has been through menopause herself (she vowed she wouldn't write a book on it until she was on the other side). Readers have the sense that they are gleaning advice from a knowledgeable holistic doctor as well as a sage aunt whose l (From here, Northrup guides readers into a thorough section on menopausal hormone changes--a discussion that is scientifically informative, yet entirely accessible. While acknowledging the need for hormone-replacement therapy and the tremendous relief it c)

The Wisdom of Menopause: The Complete Guide to Women's Health: The Complete Guide to Physical and Emotional Health During the Change

This book is the best book on the Menopause I have read todate. Not only full of self help advice, but the best coverage of all the nasties associated with this sensitive period of a womens life. Giving a balanced view on both conventional & complementary solutions to everyday living with the Menopause. Finally, a book that spends time looking at emotional changes encountered which is very often ignored or given very little coverage. No your not going mad! and it's not your fault these changes are really happening and not just to you! It's a book you can read from Chapter to chapter or dip in and out of any of the 14 chapters when you wish. Best of all written by a woman that has experienced this transformation herself for other women!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for women over the age of 35 24 July 2009
By KarmaQ
Format:Paperback
I wish I'd read this book when I was 35 years old. It's a life-line... Dr Northrup's style of writing is accessible and it is clear that, as women, our hormone levels start changing from our late 30s. I would have been much better prepared for the onset of perimenopause if I'd read this book then. She also explains the HRT research results about which there was so much frightening hype, in an objective - and far less sensational - way. Her holistic approach appeals to me. So, too, does her explanation of biology behind the changes in perimenopausal women's interactions with her life partner and her children. In fact, I think men should read the first few chapters too.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 Extraordinary Books for Mid-Lifers 4 Nov 2007
Format:Hardcover
I have been educating myself about menopause since I hit 40. This book covers everything I discovered plus gives a spiritual side that medical literature never covers. It is full of excellent practical advice. Dr. Northrup combines traditional medicine with other "medicines" in a nice balance. "THE WISDOM OF MENOPAUSE" and Understanding: Train of Thought are life changing books. I can't recommend them too highly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Look no further.... 7 Feb 2011
By Judy
Format:Paperback
For some one who knew very little about the whole physical let alone the emotional side of the menopause, I urge anyone who is entering this exciting phase in their lives to read this book. I found it extremly well thought through, practical as well as measured in the way the infomation was presented. I finished the book feeling as if I had just had a 1:1 with my doctor having had all my questions and fears answered but also in the knowledge that the menopause is something to be embraced not feared.
