Review

'Lebanon has been off the wine-lover's map for two millennia. The publication of [this] sumptuous book is a first step towards rectifying this ... the madness and charm of Lebanon are both succinctly captured in images which show that, where madness and charm coexist, wine is never far away.' The New Statesman 'A colourful, coffee table book that chronicles the country's long and rich wine heritage.' Wine International 'The first thoroughgoing survey of what's on the Lebanese wine market ... an attractive object ... well-written.' The Daily Star 'A celebratory book ... sixteen estates are brought alive with knowledgeable and passionate writing, and Schiller's resonant photography.' www.wine-pages.com 'It's enough to make me reach for a glass of thirst-quenching white wine, but which Lebanese producer shall I choose?' Tom Stevenson, award-winning author of Sotheby's Wine Encyclopaedia

Product Description

Currently creating a stir on the international market, Lebanese wine is the product of a rich heritage dating back 5,000 years. Despite Ottoman domination, regional turmoil, civil conflict and religious intolerance, Lebanon has consistently produced world-class wines. Michael Karam and Norbert Schiller take us on a journey from the Bekaa Valley to the little vineyards of Mount Lebanon. At once a wine guide and cultural history, this extensively illustrated book is a valuable reference for wine buffs, travellers and casual readers alike. It is a long-overdue tribute to one of the world's oldest winemaking regions.
