Format:Hardcover
William Horwood has succeeded where other authors have failed; he has written an enchanting, captivating and unforgettable sequel to Kenneth Grahame's immortal classic. It is enlivened by the delightful illustrations of Patrick Benson and Horwood has written a thoroughly faithful re-creation of Grahame's masterpiece and set the action a little later than the original story. He has successfully recaptured all the joy, good humour and magic of the original great work Of course, the action starts with Mole but he is not spring-cleaning when the story (re)commences. It is a wild and wintry night and he is relaxing with his nephew in front of a warm and glowing open fire when Portly arrives in a distressed state. The tale unfolds with the re-appearance of all the old favourites and anyone who collects the entire trilogy will have a selection of stories that they will enjoy for ever. As always, with Horwood's 'Tales of the Willows' there are 12 chapters of pure escapism and pleasure.

Enjoyable 15 Feb 2010
By Lecari
Format:Paperback
This is an unofficial sequel to 'the Wind in the Willows', and carries on the adventures of Toad, Mole, Rat, Badger, and the other animals. Even though it's written by another author, he does manage to capture Grahame's writing style very well and it flows well from the first book. Obviously not one for the puritians, but I quite enjoyed it. It's great to see what might have happened next to the characters that I've grown up with.
