The best whitewater first aid kit WFA book 12 Nov. 2014
By Nobody - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
My wife and I are avid campers, backpackers, snowshoers and whitewater rafters. I'm also a WW kayaker. We've looked at a lot of wilderness first aid books and found this one to be one of the best.

It is very well organized, concise and easy to follow. The information is very accessible and easy to follow. The diagrams are very clear and easy to follow and understand.

This book lacks an index, but the table of contents is pretty efficient and organized alphabetically.

This book may not be the most comprehensive (Wilderness First Responder by Buck Tilton is our favorite WFA book overall), but when you factor is it's compact size and that it's fully waterproof, we think it is the best WFA book to include in a whitewater or any marine environment first aid kit.

very practical and complete 9 Oct. 2013
By rbone - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I own several wilderness first aid books, and this one by far is the smallest, easiest to use and breaks things down into easily understandable applications without all of the verbosity of many of the other books I have read that were written by doctors. Dr. Lipman has a great grasp on what it means to be out in the wilderness and what a person can do to help minimize the inherent risks of getting hurt or needing first aid when away from civilization. On top of all that, some serious bonus points for the waterproofness of the book. A must buy for every outdoor enthusiast!
I love this book! 16 Aug. 2013

I love this book! It is comprehensive in its coverage of wilderness first aid, it is easy to read and understand, and the illustrations provide great help in treating the patient. If ANYONE you know loves camping, or backpacking or skiing, or mountain biking, OR, OR, OR, you should make sure they own this book. I have put this on my Christmas shopping list for family and friends - I have one in every vehicle and backpack!
A potential life-saver 10 Nov. 2013

Format: Paperback
The best alternative to having emergency room physician Dr Grant Lipman accompany one into the great outdoors, is to take along his book. From treating blisters to snake bites from opening airways to tying tourniquets, he helps you manage a medical emergency in a remote environment through easy to follow instructions and illustrations. This book could save a life - get it for yourself, and gifts for your friends.

I've been back packing, climbing and enjoying the outdoors for over 20 years and I believe this a great book for anyone heading outdoors. It is the perfect combination of complexity of wilderness medicine in a form that everyone can understand. I have read and own many wilderness medicine books and this one by far is the best one I have ever owned. Extra points for being waterproof.
