This is a book of factual relevance pertaining to the top sounds played at Wigan Casino in its 9 years of life. Each year of the Casino's life had its dance floor favourites and the author, Tim Brown a well respected collector, dealer and scribe, has compiled in this book the top tunes that were spun first in each year. He reviews every record fairly and while the vast majority are by now mostly well known or "classics" they make for interesting and fascinating reading. There is no politics here and no knocking of any other clubs that operated at the time. It's all about what was spun at Wigan. Besides the reviews there are many label scans. Many adverts for Wigan nights aswell as other venues. And there are record company release adverts showing what was being released at the time that might have been of interest. There are also a few small pieces by Tim relating to other things of interest to NS fans.
I was familiar with every single record mentioned in this book but I still found the reviews and articles interesting because the whole thing is well written. What I would have liked but only from a personal view is a mention of some of the tracks played that failed but later became monsters elsewhere or later played at Wigan. Still, for devotees of NS whether old timers or new comers this is a good historical piece and well worth acquisition.
