4.0 out of 5 stars Unstereotypical characters and powerful sex! 18 April 2002
    By A Customer
    Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the first Danelle Harmon book I have read and it probably won't be my last. What I found relatively unusual about this tale was that the two leading characters, Lucien and Eve, both suffer from relationship problems due to their upbringing whereas you usually read about the 'tortured hero'. In this story both hero and heroine have to resolve 'issues' in their past.
Now, as a voracious consumer of historical romances I feel it is my duty to report to you dear readers that this book contains one of the 'naughtiest' sex scenes I have ever come across! Second probably only to the swing scene in Sabrina Jeffries 'A Notorious Love' On that note I will leave you to discover for yourself how I found myself blushing and feeling terrified that my husband or someone else might look over my shoulder and see what I was reading.
Any way a hugely enjoyable story with the 'meeting of two equals'-oh and a very sad bit too!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent series! 6 Feb. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can honestly say I've enjoyed every one of the Montforte Brothers books. All too often, in a series, the books have the basic same plot with only names and places changed but the stories remain the same formula. Not so with this series.

Very enjoyable - am only disappointed that there were no more brothers and the series finished!

    Would definitely recommend!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Finale!! 18 Mar. 2013
    By Joyce
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the first three books on the De Montforte brothers and was quite looking forward to this one. The eldest brother, the foreboding and omniscient Lucien De Montforte, the Duke of Blackheath was such a big character and I was quite curious as to how the author will make this proud and brave man fall in love without destroying that character which I'd admired throughout the previous books.
This book turned out to be a befitting finale to the De Montforte brothers. I laughed, cried, got angry, anxious, cried some more and now having just finished reading it I feel like starting over again. Even the very long and steamy sex scenes didn't detract from the brilliance of the story.
A big thank you to Danelle Harmon for this finale. The whole series has been brilliant but you made me happy indeed by making the duke's story as big and bold like the character that he is :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars The wicked one 13 Sept. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The last in the series of four brothers....This series was so good (recommend reading in order as one book follows the next) The first one being ''The Wild One'' which is a free download. So you will loose nothing by reading the first book. Here I was wishing he had at least another dozen siblings so Ms. Harmon would continue with the saga of the ''De Montforte'' family. I was longing for another unexpected brother to suddenly appear so the series would not come to a close. This writer is excellent in transporting you into the world of her chosen story line. I have already bought 2 of her next series ''Heroes of the Sea'' of which I am thoroughly looking forward to reading...Highly recommended

I enjoy Danielle Harmon's books a lot. Her books about the De Montforte Brothers are all great reads. I was especially intrigued about the character of the mighty Duke of Blackheath - Lucien. In fact, this set of books reminded me a lot of the Malloren Family by Jo Beverley and of course Rothgar and Lucien have a lot in common. Both are known for being absolute masters of manipulation especially when it comes to family. Rothgar is a Marquess and Lucien is a Duke but each has four siblings - 3 brothers and one sister and the timeline for both these series is during the Georgian era.

Having made those comparisons, I will say that Lucien's character as it was set up in the three previous books in this series, left one hoping for so much that when his book was finally written, it was a little let down. Not entirely a let down, because I did give the book 4 stars. I liked the fact that he did find someone who was worthy of his interest and that she was a mature, widowed woman with some real gumption.

I especially loved the fact that Lucien was not afraid to reveal his true self to Eva. In fact, he came out to be a rather well balanced man which didn't surprise me at all considering the great job he did with raising his siblings from ten years of age. Lucien will remain as one of my favorite heroes in this genre. Strong, loving, disciplined, faithful - what more could one ask in a hero of this genre?

    5.0 out of 5 stars Love for Lucien....So Pleased! 30 July 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition
Lucien, the 4th de Montforte brother, the one that has done all the matchmaking for his siblings, FINALLY finds a love interest for himself. I've been waiting for this since book one, and am happy to say that I wasn't disappointed. A perfect ending to the series, and one that I know I will read again and again.
