This is an intersting book, in that it addresses in great detail thearchitecture and disign of the Cistercian order. The history, what theiris of it, is accurate, readable but limited. It is a very specalised bookand sadly this is not anticipated by the cover. It can and does serve as avery general introduction to the Cistercian order in the twelfth centuryand it certainly covers in depth the building achivements, but not muchmore. The author does not even include souce notes. I had hoped for muchfrom this book as I am a Masters student, but I found nothing of specificuse within it from this position, and in this I felt let down. As a verygeneral introduction, it serves well, but it is over specalised and doesnot achive much more.
