Product Description

Just how far would you go for family?

Eleven year old twins Alfie and Rosie Tanner had always lived with their grandmother, thinking that she was the only family they'd had. But on a rare school trip to the local castle, they would discover that not only did they have a much bigger family than most, but one more powerful than any.

Guided to a distant magical land, accompanied by their best friends Billy and Emma, the twins learn that whilst their father is lost, their mother lives. Though alive, she has been bound by spell, and now serves the most perilous of wizards. A tyrant of a wizard, who in order to rule the lands had dispensed with his entire family, has been named Grave by the people he rules, and is protected by four white faceless guardians.

Determined to free the mother they had never known from her bind, the twins and their friends go on to experience the many wonders, and dangers of this strange magical land. A land where only a certain level of magic is allowed, with those performing above that level being visited by Grave's four guardians. Once visited, the wrongdoer would be given a choice of four punishments; none of which that are good.

Along their way, Alfie, Rosie, Billy and Emma are taught magic, make their first ever magical trade, come face to face with wizards, witches, dragons and giants, and unwittingly visit the most magical place the world has ever known.

Can Alfie and Rosie free their mother? They are certainly prepared to risk their lives trying.

The White Circle

Having loved the Harry Potter book series, I was somewhat reluctant to delve back into the world of magic. After all, you read one magic story you’ve read them all, right? Wrong!

I’m ever so pleased I took the plunge.

Our four young protagonists: Alfie, Rosie, Emma and Billy are unexpectedly drawn into a magical universe and they only went on a school trip!

The White Circle has a direct narrative that slowly builds as it introduces characters and plot but soon envelops the reader as they need to know what happens next. It spans the ages with tales of yore tied up with contemporary imagery and culture – i.e. Billy dressed in a classic sci-fi outfit?!

This book shows great imagination that leaves the reader following red-herrings, being sucked into their world as it twists and turns and ultimately feeling frustrated because there are loose ends that need tying up.

Second book anyone? This story NEEDS a follow-up and I for one look forward to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Many Mistakes 23 July 2014
By Wendy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book could have been better. It was so full of mistakes that my concentration wandered from the story looking for the next error (which was never far away).

Grammar, spelling, punctuation..........."he was sat"..."she was stood"........"I better see"......" Billy laughed Billy", I mean, come on! And, just how can you snap jovially?

There were sentences with words missing, so I had to read them again to see if it was me, or was it yet another error?

Shame. It could have been a good book with some editing/proofreading. Or even spell check/grammar check!!!
