Format: Hardcover
I have just finished reading this book and would thoroughly recommend it to both young and old alike. The story has an old-fashioned charm about it, is highly original, and is a great mix of humour and adventure.

The author's writing style reminded me of JRR Tolkien, in that it is quite descriptive. Landscapes and scenery are described in rich detail, successfully creating an image in the reader's mind.

The book is also not short on humour, with comic relief often coming from the mischievous octopus Glob. Metaphors are also used to hilarious effect.

Overall a great debut book, looking forward to the next instalment!

A great book, for not just children but adults of all ages alike. What strikes me most about this book is the depth of description and the creativity of the thinking behind it, whilst still keeping the overall story concept easy to understand. Add in some very personable and likable main characters (even the non-human ones), this book gives you an impression of a world that is somewhat twee, traditional, and warm-hearted.

Creatively written, well thought and very imaginative. A superb book for children, possibly the start of something very special for the first-time authour. Recommended.
