This book is FAB! 30 Sep 2010
Format:Hardcover
I've got a house full of books, mostly unread, and seem to have got out of the habit of reading much these days. When I find myself in a bookshop, even if I find a book that looks interesting I think about the unread books in my house and return the book to the shelf. That's not what happened when I opened THIS book!

If it looks really good on the outside - and it does - it gets better when you open it up. Half as big again as A4 you open it to find it's one long page, folded concertina-like between the covers. You therefore have the choice of dipping into it, sitting down to study it in fascination for hours, or opening it out to make a LONG wall poster and sticking it up on your wall. Which presumably is why they call it a Wallbook!

One side of the LONG poster gives you information in text form; the other side gives you a hand-drawn depiction of the history of the planet Earth and its people - you can marvel at pre-human history or gawk at different stages of human civilisation, seeing what was happening in different parts of the planet at the same time. Of course it's great for kids, maybe 9 or 10 upwards - AND it's also great for adults like me who haven't got a clue about history and want to know more.

The book's GREAT. I've just bought one for me and two for presents for friends. And no - I don't know the authors or publisher personally!

This is history let out of its box. It simply sings to info-philes and visual learners alike. With parallel timelines for all continents, developments on land, sky and sea, more than a thousand illustrations, it is a superlative mastery of design and research, a treat to eye and brain alike.

Why couldn't history lessons at school be like this? Our whole family were glued to it from the moment we opened the package:"Mummy look a dinosaur, an Egyptian, a rocket, a Roman, a Viking boat... Daddy look we came from monkeys..." my five-year-old squealed, having just discovered evolution! My husband has demanded we put it up on our stairs so he can read it each time he walks past, but I might have it beside my bed for the first couple of weeks so I can read its 7000 word essay on the back. Incredible, rich, contextual history education for all the family - a wonderful gift for your family, friends, local school or library, and a must for home educators. In my view, this is education as it should be.

Really good! 1 April 2011
By Tyler
Format:Hardcover
The book is technically a giant time line from the big bang to the present day.

Christopher Lloyd came into my school and talked about the past , he is really inspiring.

Nothing would stop me from buying this book!

I was so amazed by his speech about history he made it fun.
