Book Description

7 Feb 2007 Newmarket Shooting Script
The exciting follow-up to Newmarket's first West Wing script book features 8 teleplays from Seasons 3 and 4 of the hit TV show - winner of 13 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series 3 years in a row - chosen and introduced by award-winning creator Aaron Sorkin. Experience firsthand the care and structure put into the scripts, selected here by Aaron Sorkin, that make The West Wing "one of TV's most satisfying hours, a savvy blend of great acting, whip-smart dialogue and grand gestures" (USA Today).

The West Wing, holding the record for most Emmys, won in a single season, stars Stockard Channing, Duli Hill, Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, Joshua Malina, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Martin Sheen, John Spencer, and Bradley Whitford.

In the acclaimed Newmarket Shooting Script Series, The West Wing Seasons 3 & 4: The Shooting Scripts contains 8 full-length teleplays personally selected by Aaron Sorkin, a behind-the-scenes section about the making of the show, 20 black-and-white stills, and an introduction written exclusively for this edition by Sorkin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it! 25 Feb 2004

This is extremely satisfying! Better than the S1 and S2 book, if only because it contains shooting scripts, so there are all sorts of scenes included that didn't quite make it to the small screen.
Sorkin is a wonderful writer, and his introduction is illuminating and entertaining. Those hoping for a few hints as to why Rob Lowe left the show will not be disappointed, and his comments about the wonderful Richard Schiff made me laugh out loud.
The book could do with a few more photographs, but that could be just me being greedy.

5.0 out of 5 stars West Wing Words 1 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback
I recently took ownership of the complete box set of all seven series and watched them in a kind of marathon. Wow. I got this because I already had the first book and value completeness. I love reading it after I've seen the episodes because you can still hear the characters' voices and the whole show is conjured up in your head. I really like that feeling.

There is quite a lot of background in this book about the shenanigans behind the scenes at a big TV show. Very interesting if a little depressing for someone who wants to believe everyone loves everyone just like in the show. Still, it does seem the cast were happy together, even if production offices are rather fraught places, so that's okay.
