The West Wing - quite simply the most stunning drama to hit UK screens in years. I love it!
And now, you can live an American Dream of your own as you devour the pages of this, the most brilliant of scripts.
The West Wing Script Book contains six complete scripts from the series. The book begins with an introduction, written by the creator Aaron Sorkin, highlighting the problems that, in theory, a TV drama about the White House, would face - who would want to watch a drama about politics. Well, it seems, quite a few of us!
The six scripts chosen to be included are, from season one - "Pilot" and "A Proportional Response", and from season two, parts one and two of "In The Shadow of Two Gunmen", "17 People" and "Two Cathedrals".
At first, these episodes seem like quite a strange mix, and certainly do not include the very best episodes; however, as you read through the book, you begin to see why they were chosen.
From these six scripts, you are introduced to each main character that you'll encounter - the main players in Bartlet's West Wing. Also, they contain some of the most powerful scenes in the entire series, leading to a much better understanding of how the characters are feeling, and coping with their life, both socially and professionally.
Even if you've never seen any of the West Wing on TV, this is still a superb script book, and you're almost guaranteed to fall in love with Aaron Sorkins writing styles and techniques (that's if you're not already a fan!).
For anyone who has followed the series, this book is great, as you can really appreciate the talent that the TV producers have managed to assemble to really do justice for such a great script.
