I chanced upon this in a book shop last week and naturally was drawn in by the cool front cover. Artistically this is a very cool comic, full-page spreads for the climactic scenes and smaller close-up panels for the dialogue really bring out out the story as in any good graphic novel, very good colouring as well, especially around the darker moments.
As a story you get pulled in very quickly. Bleda has written a piece that flows at a very fast pace, and I'm not exaggerating; you'll finish this in a day, in an hour if you're an avid reader because you'll want to see how it all pans out in the end.
Therein lies The Wednesday Conspiracy's one and only flaw; its much too short. There are some really likeable characters in this comic; such as purple-haired pin-up Violet whose you're textbook chain-smoking, foul mouthed ballsy female lead (always a good thing) and the placidly enigmatic Akiko to name a couple. But unfortunatly just as you're really warming to these characters the book ends, leaving you feeling somewhat dissatisfied. I think if this were a series spaced out over a few volumes it would be vastly more enjoyable to the reader, instead of being squashed into one.
Nevertheless its still worth reading because it is so damn cool. And if you're the type who likes hot girls kicking ass and demonic summonings in your comics then this would be a purchase that won't disappoint.
