The good news is, yes, Jennifer Lopez can do comedy. In The Wedding Planner Lopez is Mary, a lovable woman who believes "those who can't do, teach. Those who can't wed, plan!" Her slapstick moments are light-hearted and offer a spot-on performance as the compulsive-yet-sweet planner. The bad news is Lopez didn't get much of a vehicle in which to test drive her newfound comedic skills.
The main problem with this film is that no one wants to hurt anyone else's feelings. Everyone is just so gosh-darn nice. In a subplot, Mary's father is trying to arrange her marriage to just the nicest Italian boy. Gee, he's sweet. Golly, Mary's rival in love Fran is so nice. Yet, there is a touch of old-fashioned romance to this wholesome film, which can only be described as "cute." While things may unfold in a predictable manner, The Wedding Planner is still light-hearted fun of the sort that inspires dreamy romantic thoughts. --Jenny Brown, Amazon.com
On the DVD: The Wedding Planner on disc has a soft focus to the widescreen 2.35:1 image which is perfect for this purely entertaining romantic comedy fluff. The soundtrack is done well with both the dialogue and music coming through crisp and clear and despite the fact that this DVD doesn't set out to be a special edition there is more than enough to keep extras features fans happy. There's a good audio commentary from director Adam Shankman and writers Pamela Falk and Michael Ellism as well as a couple of rough-cut deleted scenes with commentary, and two featurettes--one on the making of the film and the second on the choreography of the tango sequence. --Kristen Bowditch
Product Description
Mary Fiore (Jennifer Lopez) is a successful wedding planner whose creative ideas make her clients' weddings a dream come true. She is unlucky in love and is desperate to meet the perfect man, before it is too late. When she meets Dr. Steve Edison (Matthew McConaughey) Mary is instantly smitten. But there is one problem, he is about to get married and his wife-to-be wants her to organise the wedding. This causes problems as the more time she spends with her clients organising their big day, the more she falls in love with the groom.

Having never seen the two main actors in this film act before I was a bit dubious, but like the saying goes the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The plot is fairly predictable, but you find that you are not bothered about that because your enjoying the film too much to care.
All the stars play their parts to mind numbing perfection and the script fairly sizzles in places.
It also has a kind of classic charm to it, usually only found in films of the bygone era.
Certain scenes will have you laughing like a school girl and others will have you cringing with embarassment.
There are no low points in this film and you certainly won't care where the remote is, so sit back and enjoy.

i love this film! i just love romantic films and this is one of the best.
It is predictable, but in a great way. I laugh at the bad reviews because these guys werent really expecting anything more than fun, chick-lit, were they?
i loved that Justin Chambers (Alex Karev in grey's anatomy) was in it and had that strange accent! his character Massimo is so funny!!
if u are looking to be cheered up with fun and romance and dreams coming true, then buy this now!

This is a great love story!!!! I am a big fan of romantic comedies and as with brilliant movies like Bridget jones, 10 things I hate about you and Nottinghill, it has a lovely story line about sacrificing you future and everything you know about love for something completely crazy. J-Lo got into role VERY WELL i was amazed with her performance as i was with Matthew McConaughey's. He played a very sexy doctor and if you like Matthew, u need to see this movie. It was completely hilaroius as well as touching by turns. If you like Bridget Jones, you'll love this.
