An early Krentz novel re-released. It's well written and enjoyable, without coming up to the standard regular readers expect from her current work. The bride and groom have to learn to know and trust each other afresh as business and family skeletons get in the way of their happiness. Obviously there's a happy ending! One of the better re-releases published in reccent years.

3.0 out of 5 stars the worst JAK!! 31 Oct 2002
By Deborah MacGillivray HALL OF FAME VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This has to be one of JAK's WORST books. Don't get me wrong, she is one of my favourite authors and I feel nearly all her early works as Stephanie James and the others for Candlelight and Temptation hold up very well in reprint. In many instances, I think she demonstrates her shining talent, with a fresh spontaneity she is lacking in her last few hard backs. However, this is NOT one of them. The characters are dated, the situation, near ridiculous....sorry....just nothing going this.

I disliked the female character especially. She goes from logical, level head person one minute, to this very whiny, spiteful, unrealitic woman the next. UGH, spare me.

Save your money and buy Amaryllis, Zinnia or Orchid and have a much better time. This one should have been released like they did some of her (MUCH BETTER) Stephanie James and given a lower release price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes, read this. 2 July 2002
By Huntress Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Angie Townsend married Owen Sutherland out of love. On their wedding night, though, a phone call to her honeymoon suite and an envelope delivered to the door with a copy of a post-dated press release made her wonder if she had been played for a fool. After all, their courtship had been what the public would call a "whirlwind". And their families had been rivals in the hotel business for a long time. Had Owen married her only to con her family into merging companies? Angie decided the consummation of her new marriage would be put on hold until she found out!

**** The early works of author Jayne Ann Krentz has long been my favorites. I decided to pull out a few of them, during my short vacation, and escape for awhile. This novel (along with "Family Man") is one of the best, in my opinion. It is loaded with romance, suspense, danger, mystery, and a gothic flavor. Victoria Holt fans would especially love this one. If you have not read this story as yet, you are missing out on a terrific time! Pick up a copy! ****

4.0 out of 5 stars Good transitional novel 6 Jan 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is a 1991 novel reprinted, and it defintely shows the transition of Krentz's less satisfying work of the 1980's, to the point where she was really hitting her stride (both aa Krentz and as Amanda Quick). The hero is satisfyingly desperate for his recalcitrant bride, and the heroine handles his obnoxious family in a delightfully assertive and humorous way. One can see the two main characters as more similar to the Amanda Quick hero and heroine, but they are attractive and it was fun to spend an evening with them. An older effort but worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Wedding Night! Can't Miss It! 1 Feb 2002
By Sarah - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is one of the best books I've read in a long time! The characters really come alive. You can really understand Owen's frustration when Angie tells him he must prove himself before she will become in wife in every way. On the other hand you can really understand Angie's anger and fear at finding out that not only her new husband but her whole family has kept this big secret from her. You can also understand Angie's disapointment in Owen's refusal to tell her how he feels about her. All in all it was a great book that kept moving and was very true to life! Great Job Ms. Krentz!!!!
