Leon Garfield is the Dickens of children's fiction - his dark and well researched historical novels and stories are spellbinding, gothic and stunning. The Wedding ghost is a folk tale, and a warning "be careful who you make promises to" A great read!

Leon Garfield is a master of language and here he has produced a story that is intriguing, writing a ghost story mixed with a traditional fairy tale and giving the whole superb twists. A fantastic story for anyone from older children to adults.

I bought this book for older children who enjoy a good spooky story. It's based on an old folk tale and the illustrations are excellent. It's probably best appreciated by girls as a gift, but boys would enjoy it as a story. It gives lots of scope for discussion about feelings and sensations.
